Reasoning behind the Name:  In my own made-up solar system, there's the planet Gavania where most humans reside (and where Quinsta come from) and then there's Allonia which is home to magical creatures.  The only part of Allonia that's welcoming to humans is an ancient orchard.  For Silvanon, "The Orchard" is home, and so, anywhere I make my home, that's its name.

Perhaps not "characters" or creatures precisely but certainly legendary opposites who's story has been anthropomorphized, the mythological (and real)  Masamune and Muramasa blades of Japanese fame were characterized by their opposing attributes. Long ago a swordsmith and his apprentice held a contest to see who would forge the best blade, and in order to test their creations, both swords were held beneath the water. While Masamune would not cut the plants or other forms of life carried on the current as if the sword itself was capable of judging the defenseless from the truly evil, Muramasa's deadly edge sliced through all that came within its path indiscriminately. Due to its bloodthirsty nature, Muramasa was deemed the lesser blade while Masamune was honored throughout time as a sword of compassion. (There are many variations of this story- forgive me if the one I know best is different from others)
