Oh man, totally been there. I remember one of the first breeding seasons, I got a red dun splash Vanner boy and I was so excited, only to see when he finally arrived that almost all his markings were covered up. ^_^;; But they're still cuties!

All the new Quin look great! I am dying for the Fjords and Freisians~ *waits waits*

Hee, I went through the same thing when I bribed for Kyve'ath.  Red dun + tobiano + splash = not many dun markings show up!  But at the time there were relatively few dun Vanners who didn't trace to Astris, so I figured he'd be worth it anyway.

I don't usually bother doing dapples on mouse duns, but this time I did.  When a brown base-horse dapples, the shorter hairs of the dapple area show off more of the chestnut color and less of the black color included in the brown coat.
