Phoe knickered encouragingly behind her to beckon the gathering herd to follow. Nexus and Kanan were standing proudly on a nearby hill, or rather, Nexus was standing proudly, Kanan was prancing around like a nervous loon and trying to stand still.

But this was a fun and safe trip, not very far, so Nexus wasn't worried. He would stand there like a sentinel and guard over everything, but he wasn't worried.

Phoe startled a bit as a gaggle of faettes raced past her, amused by their antics. She kept her slow pace though so little ones who weren't quite as excited could keep up. As well as the hulking figure that plodding along behind her, lashed securely to a sled that they would use to carry the pumpkins back to the lakeside.

Lycan wasn't quite sure what to make of this chore. The others were running and having fun, and there he was stuck to some thing he had to drag around. Maybe once they got there he could play too.

Gleinir's giant tail flicked nervously back and forth as she walked to the gathering herd of Faes and Faettes. The young adult filly had never gone to a gathering of Faes before, her shy nature keeping her close to Ryuu's herd and making it hard to make friends with others. She anxiously hoped her herd sister Beatrice would show up here as well, since the boitrous girl made Gleinir feel much bolder just by being around.

She kept to the back of the herd, but even with her nervousness, Gleinir was excited. It would soon be the season of harvest and witchery, which had always been her favorite. And perhaps she would even meet more Hound Fae like herself on this trip! Their rarity had always interested her (and honestly made her feel a bit special).

Rei lightly bounded and weaved her way through other unknown herds sometimes following faettes for the fun of it other just on her own, resting on the fact that they were all together bound for the same area and hopefully no one will be to annoyed. Only every now and then she paused long enough to look  back for her herd, even if it meant she needed to rear and flap a bit to look over the heads of the other faequine and faettes near her probably to their annoyance.

She was in a giddy mood it was pumpkin hunting time! and that just means they were closer to the start of the magical time when the scary faequine and faettes come out of the woods again. "hmmm" she shook one wing open then folded it against her back again wondering if she should wait for the rest of her herd. She moved to the side so now to disrupt "traffic" but kept with the flow.

Starwing nozzles Lady Love. "Good morning, sunshine. We need to go if we don't want to be late." The mare snorts at that, knowing very well her that her herd leader will make sure they will not be late... for anything.

Even so, he is right of course. Even though 'Starwing's herd' is only a small part of Nexus' and Kanan's herd, it still takes time and effort to get moving. She stretches leisurely, trying to annoy her mate into a last nip, but Starwing doesn't even notice. His eyes drift over the others, already looking for his other 'wing leaders'.

Lady Love sighs. Duty calls. For one second, she closes her eyes, fighting back the worry those thoughts bring.

A soft whinny startles Starwing right before something nips his shoulder. "Good morning, father," the ever joyful voice of his only daughter giggles. "Morning, Embrace." The young mare cocks her head to the side in surprise at her father's distracted reply. She frowns as she notices his eyes still scanning those around instead of focusing on her.

Lady Love sighs again. This is the first time their daughter's antics can't lure Starwing's mind of his herd. It's about time she learns the herd will always come first for him. Even on a fun trip. For a moment she wonders how much fun any of the herd leaders will really have. Her eyes drift from her little family to Nexus and Kanan up the hill. If Starwing was nervous enough to practically ignore the light of his life, how much more were they? Kanan surely looked the part.

Lady Love trots up to Starwing and Love's Embrace and nudges her daughter. "Let's go. Lightstar and Winter will be waiting for us." Maybe. She fights the sigh bubbling up inside her. Lightstar still doesn't accept her as wing leader... and Lady Love doesn't feel like much of a leader anyway. She expects the more senior mare to challenge her over it soon. And she fears that moment... even more because she can't be sure which side Winter will take. Of course, Starwing isn't aware of the tensions in one of his newly formed wings yet. She doesn't want to trouble him with it. This is her problem after all.

All around them, faes, faettes and familiars are milling about, trying to find their own herd leaders... or in the case of Starwing's group, their appointed wing.

"What's going on?" a hesitant human voice whispers. Lady Love looks at Leviange in pity before turning away. Someone really should try talking to her. She's been a part of this herd for longer than I have, but she's still an outsider, alone, with no one to talk to.

A small form appears next to the human and carefully nudges her toward the gathering faettes. Sunbloom's look toward her herd leader is apologetic... and Lady Love actually takes offense. From what she's heard so far, the human has been of use to the herd in the past. There's no reason to treat her like an unwanted annoyance. Accepted, yes, but barely. But the mare knows there isn't a lot she can do. She isn't strong enough to try talking to her herself.

"Get back here!" A roar startles them all as something black and red bolts through the surrounding herd members. Lady Love laughs a little as her brother comes into view, looking distraught. Foals are so much fun, aren't they?

Starwing surprises all of them though. "Let her play, Stellar Sky. This is a fun event. As long as Nightshade stays close, she won't come to any harm. We'll all look after her." Their herd leader grins. "At least she IS accounted for, which is all what I want to know now. I don't want to lose any members on this trip, not even for a second, but neither do I want to spoil the fun. Have Spooky follow her around. He may be a foal too, but he's got more sense than a lot of older Faes I know."

With that, he takes of towards the point of the group, catching the eyes of his herd mates as he passes through them. They will all fall in behind him, staying with their own designated wing mates, the way they have trained ever since the Eastern Herd arrived. The lead stallion makes note of each of his wing leaders. They're all here... and they'll let him know instantly if one of their wing is missing.

A little farther down, Lucifer Morningstar gathers his own wing of Faettes around, his eyes straying to his own leader, Sunbloom. He nods to sign of his group as complete and shivers in anticipation. The portals to home will be opening soon... and he can't help but feel a little light headed.

He knows he isn't the only one in the Faequine herd to think of the night they came to the Fields. Then, he realizes something. Security in this part of the herd will be tight. Melfian's too dangerous to let go. For a moment, he flinches as prior allegiances come back to haunt him. But he's a part of Starwing's herd now, isn't he? Cold shivers run down his spine as he catches his former herd leader's acid look.

Exodus ran in, full speed. She didn't pause to look at those standing on the outskirts of the patch. She didn't pause to introduce herself to any of the growedups. She heard laughter and the sounds of play, and made a beeline for it. This was her first time seeing the pumpkin patch. All she wanted to do was play among the giant orange globes with others of her age.

Seeing a tail flit around a corner row, she charged after it, hollering "wait for me!"

As the light graced the land, slowly some faes and faettes where moving among the herd. The first to be fully awake was Black Fire. The darkened fae looked around, wings crackling with the flames of his birth as his eyes flamed lightly, giving everythign around him a shivering light to it. His gaze fell on Flastri who he was attracted to but would not tell her. Instead he just kept being friends with the flaming mare.

A small sigh escaped his lips as he stood up, steching his black legs as he did so. With a small shake of his bodice he moved forward to nudge the mare slightly, looking at some of the others that would be going with them. He would be taking care of the others even if he was not the 'Alpha' of his herd. However he knew he would be stronger then Astrial some day. Just not today. He growled low in his throat before going to the cave where his mother was. He saw her flicking bone flame wings in the darkness before moving away to rouse the faettes.

Flastri jumped slightly at the feel of a muzzle on her neck. Her white eyes opened as she smelled Black Fire. Her eyes narrowed slightly to make out what she could of the male. She smiled softly at him though as he moved off to check on his mother. Flastri was mostly blind but if she narrowed her eyes just right she could make out figures. She shook her black and white mane before standing up and nibbling at some of the grass stalks. The sweetness of the grass and the dew flowed down her neck before she moved off towards the faettes, following her sense of smell and remberence of the place. She moved over to the red and black bodice of Black rose, nudging her lightly as Black fire came and woke up Ti'Kira.

She was curious what Ti'kira's past was. He was covered in scars and was one of the oldest in the herd. One day she would ask but not today. Instead she would make sure that the faes would stick together. It was only the four of them that would be going for the others had other plans.

The smaller faes got up as they each felt a nudge by the two others. Ti'Kira nodded at each of the Faes before nuzzling Black Rose lightly. He was like a father to all the Faettes because he was the oldest of them. A nuzzle wsa given back by the black mare before Ti'Kira led the way to the pumpkin patch. It was a funny assembly that the small one Faette was leading the other Faette plus the bigger faes. The moved at a brisk trot before they reached the scene of where everyone else was. A small smile was on Flastri's face as well as Ti'Kiras. Black rose was looking around, curious if anyone would talk to them and have fun.

Black Fire kept close to Flastri to make sure the blind mare would have a least a friend with her. He did not trust anyone else right now, though being born out of two evil Faes it was interesting that he was as nice as he was.  The two faes moved forward slightly to look at the others as the Faettes raced each other to see who was faster. Of course Ti'Kira would be but he always had fun running with the young'uns.

Gleinir wandered through the ambling assembly of Faes, searching for anyone from her own herd. She wondered if she alone had woken up early enough to join in, and if they rest were all sleeping in the field where they frequently stayed. She felt a prick of guilt like the bite of a fly on her haunch. Should she have tried to waken them before she left? Would it have been polite to ask if they wanted to join? Surely Sky Bridge wouldn't have minded but some of the Faes of her herd could be downright grumpy; she wouldn't have dared tried to wake Roan from his dreams. . . .

Suddenly the fluffy mare stopped short in surprise, and had to quickly dance to the side to avoid someone bumping her from behind. Her amber eyes widened as they spotted two figures walking a short ways ahead. A jet black male pegasus with wisps of black fire along his wings, and a black and white female with blank white eyes. Instantly memories of her childhood sprang into Gleinir's mind. A day away from her herd. Meeting new friends. An adventure belonging entirely to them, only young foals and unknowing what the wide world held.

"B-Black Fire! Flastri! Is that really you!?" Gleinir broke into a gallop to catch up with the two, her thick mane and giant tail ruffled in the wind of her charge. As she approached the two, she hesitated and slowed down. Would they even remember her? If they did, would they even care to speak to her? Shyly the young Hound Fae ducked her head and hid her eyes behind her thick mane and flopping ears.

Flaming orbs turn as Black Fires ears pricked at the sound of a familiar voice. It was different slightly with age but he still knew it. A small chuckle escaped his lips as he saw the hound fae. The black mare at his side turned to at the familar smell.

Black Fire smiled at the other. "Yes it is really us Gleinir. You have grown a lot." He then blushed slightly though of course with his black fur you could not see it. "Well we all have. What have you been up to?"

Flastris white eyes looked in the direction of the voice. She knew it and raddled her brain to figure out who it was. Then she remebered as Black Fire said the others name.  Flastri let a smile grace her muzzle as she moved towards the other, going close enough to see. However she soon was invading personal space as she wanted to look over the other. SHe blushed and backed up as she realized how close she got. "Sorry Gleinir I am able to see a little bit now and i wanted to know what you looked like."

The mare hung her head slightly as she looked at the others, little pices of each of the twos coats and the grass blending in her eyes. She was proud that she could see a little bit now but she was still mostly blind. How she wished she could see like the others, but she did know she head better then Black Fire and better then most of the others in her herd. It was her gift.

Mykel was not quite sure how he ended up leading the small group of faes and faettes from his band to the pumpkin patch.  Most of the older faes hadn't been interested in going this year, though most hadn't been able to go last year.  Some of the newer faettes, and Karina, French's daughter, were dying to go.  When French insisted they have a male go along, for some reason, Karina decided to ask Mykel.

He shook his head, still not sure why he agreed.  Glancing around, he saw several interesting faes; maybe this wouldn't be such a bad idea, though the hyper faettes would likely get on his nerves before long.  Sighing, he made another visual check of his "charges".

Karina kept Mykel in sight, just out of the corner of her eye at all times.  She had known her father would insist on a "chaperone"; she had chosen Mykel since he was the least likely to volunteer, and he needed to be more social.  He stayed alone too much.

She was excited to be able to go pumpkin hunting this year.  She hadn't been deemed old enough to go the previous year, and she felt she had missed out on a lot.  This time, she hoped to make some new friends.  Tipping her head, she watched her companion, Zivo, to see how he was handling the sudden crowd of strange faes and faettes.  He was wide-eyed, nose twitching as he smelled dozens of unfamiliar scents, but he seemed more excited than nervous.  Karina was pleased with how well he reacted, and turned her attention to the other faes.

Kelpie trotted along behind Mykel and Karina, keeping up wth them easily, though she barely acknowledged their presence.  She had heard about this pumpkin hunt, and where it was held, and she was eager to see the swamp.  She could actually care less about the pumpkins, but for now, she would play along.  Maybe there would be someone interesting along the way.

Schmetterling wasn't normally big on autumn activities; her favorite creatures tended to be in short supply, so she tended to feel at a loss.  So when Karina had spoken of a pumpkin hunt, the winged faette decided to give the event a try.  It might give her something new to do when the butterflies flew away to warmer places.  She was not thrilled that the only other faette to join the venture was Kelpie though; the pony faette was a little too devious for Schmetterling to be comfortable with.

She decided to avoid dealing with the other faette as much as possible, not that Kelpie made that difficult.  She paid little attention to any of her band-mates, watching her surroundings as intently as she was.  Schmetterling launched herself into the air, something she rarely did when her companions were ground-bound, but she didn't aim for much height.  Just enough to be a comfortable distance from the halloween faette.  And have a convenient view of most of the fae and faettes traveling towards the swamp.

Menori sighs disgruntled, trying to find her own wing in the gaggle of Faes and Faettes in the neighbourhood. It's hard to be a Faette wingleader when you're too small to look over anything. Huge Fae wings block her sight at just about every corner.

Frustrated, she lifts off, her eyes constantly scanning those below, looking for her missing friends. She doesn't notice the other flying Faette until she nearly flies straight into Schmetterling. "Oh no! I'm so sorry!" the light Faette exclaims, banking to the right. The tips of her wings nearly touch the other mare as she does, but she hopes to avoid an actual collision.

((exodus is a faette for the record, sorry she doesnt have thumbnail yet))

Exodus lost sight of the tail of the youngster she had been persuing. There were just too many tails gathering to keep track of one. She stopped, really looking around for the first time. She was a bit overwealmed with the numbers surrounding her.

She wasnt actually young enough to be considered a child, but she was small enough nobody usually thought twice about it. Having only recently entered adulthood, she didn't like it- she was determined to hold on to her youth a bit longer.

She stopped before a small pumpkin on the edge of the patch. It had been trampled by some careless hooves. Glancing around to see if anyone noticed, she lowered her head and tenatively took a nibble of the broken fruit.

Ti'Kira was walking with Black rose at his side when he noticed a younger featte eating a bit of the pumpkin. He chuckle softly and stood near her. Do you like pumpkin? His black eyes looked at Exodus as he waited for answer, watching as his companion bent down and nibbled another piece of pumpkin as well.

The black and red mare nibbled at the pumpkin, wondering what it tasted like. At first she almost spit it out then it started to grow on her. After a bit she had finished the little piece that she had taken. She smiled at looked at Ti'kira. "We should grow pumpkins back at home." Her red orbs looked over at the other faette. "Hi. Im Black Rose and this is Ti'kira." Black rose was shy most of the time but when she was around Ti'kira she felt safe and could talk more.

indigowulf

Getting a rather large chunk of pumpkin flesh in her mouth, Exodus nodded her head up and down, trying to break off a more managable bit. She jumped a bit as she heard words so close to her.

Seeing the pretty golden creature standing next to her, she smiled, showing white teeth stained with the bit of fruit she still held. Realizing how silly she must look, she dropped it. Thoughtfully, she chewed the bit already in her mouth.

Cocking her head sideways, she looked at Ti'Kira and decided "no, I dont think I like it much." She then turned to watch Black Rose chew with amusement.

Schmetterling was busy watching the other faekind ahead of her, when another faette nearly flew into her.  Fluttering her wings quickly, she kept herself flying straight, and turned to look at the other mare.

"Oh, it's no problem!  I'm okay.  I'm more surprised there haven't been any full collisions yet!"  She giggled.  "I'm Schmetterling.  Are you okay?  You seem a bit distracted."

Ryuukokoro

Gleinir's muzzle broke out into a shy smile. They remembered her! She was very touched. In her mind she wasn't a very noteworthy presence among the Fae. After all, most of the Faes in her herd were much louder and more flamboyant, and stood out with their wild colors and bubbling personalities. She really hadn't expected them to remember her at all.

"Y-yeah, you grew up well--eep! I mean you look so--er, I, ah," Gleinir stumbled over her awkward words as she responded to Black Fire. She focused on her hoof digging a hole in the grass, wishing it would grow wide enough to swallow her and hide her from her own embarrassment.

Her ears pricked up as Flastri moved very close, the pale white eyes taking up her whole vision. She almost took a step back, but the black and white mare explained her reasons for moving so close, and Gleinir relaxed. "You can see now? That's wonderful!" She remembered the tiny foal tripping and stumbling as she tried to keep up with them in their games when they were younger. "You've grown up too," she told the handicapped mare with a smile. "I guess we've all changed since we were younger." At this statement she glanced over to Black Fire. She remembered the boy being short tempered and boasting as a colt, but now he seemed to be quite mellow and was staying close to Flastri to help her. Gleinir couldn't help but approve of the change in the handsome young stallion.

That was when the Hound Fae noticed they were losing the herd, having paused to have their reunion. "Oh, we're falling behind! We'd better hurry," she told the other two. Glancing back to see if they would walk with her, Gleinir took off at a trot to catch up with the trailing herd heading for the pumpkin patch.

The golden stag chuckled softly. "It can be an aquired taste or some just dont like. I personally like it sometimes but i have to be in the mood." He smiled at Exodus as Black Rose introduced them, nodding his head slightly in acknowledgement.

Black Rose nibbled gently at the pumpkin deciding that she liked it. Then she introduced them and smiled as only a newly grown female could. She was happy to get out of the herd and was hoping to have some fun today. She was with Ti'kira and now was hoping to make a new friend so what could be better?

Black Fire smiled at Gleinir as she spoke. He chuckled and watched Flastri move forward. "Yes we have all grown up. It has beena while." His black bodice shifted slightly s the mare went forward and then explained why she was so close.

Flastri moved her black and white body closer, wanting to see what her friend looked like. When she realized how close she came to the other she backed up and blushed. She told the hound fae that she could see and smiled as the other spoke. "Yes i can but sometimes things are still blank, and sadly i do have to get close to get a good picture but its something." She moved back to stand near Black Fire so that the other would not be uncomfortable. She did not like making her friends feel like that.

Black Fire had indeed changed a lot. He was raised by parents that usually stayed away from the herd, his mother being one of the Halloween faes that got traped in this diminsion and his dad who used to have fun with all the females and kill others before he met sunchaser. He wasnt perfect far from it he was still arrogant and evil but better. Fortuantly for everyone Flastri had changed Black Fire with her kindness and taught him that yes he can be strong but he doesnt have to flaunt it or turn out like his parents and be outcasts.  When Gleinir spoke about catching up with the others he nodded his black head, his eyes glowing slightly brighter then normal with excitement. "Yes we should catch up." He moved forward to be by Gleinir with Flastri at his side. Yes this would be fun.

Ryuukokoro

"AVAST THAR!" a loud voice irrupted in the center of the large group of equines. Those nearest the voice danced aside in shock, leaving a wide circle around two small figures.

Even from her position trailing behind the herd, Gleinir heard the voice and recognized it. "Oh no..." she groaned softly under her breath.

Captain smirked as he was given a wide berth, some Fae looking at him now very oddly when before he had been just one more of the crowd. He was a small brown Faette with black mane and scraggly black beard. One eye was covered with a patch and one of his front limbs had been replaced with a wooden leg. A tri-corner hat completed the look.

"Ar," Captain murmured with satisfaction. He gave all the nearby Faes a calculating look. "Aaar, I jus' dun know if any o' these landlubbers would do well with us, Mate. But we do need a crew, don' we?" He turned to look at his companion.

Next to the Captain stood a Fae that definitely drew alarming looks. It was a Faette . . . in shape, at least. But rather than flesh and blood, the creature was only a skeletal frame with glowing red eyes and a matching tri-corner hat, signifying his allegence to his Captain. He stood silently next to him, red eyes trained on the loud Faette.

"Aye!" Captain said gustily in agreement, though his First Mate hadn't said anything aloud. "We shall see, won' we? Best to be gettin' to lookin'!" The Captain trotted forward into the crowds, followed by the silent specter, as they looked for Faes they could coerce to join them in their 'crew.' What their motivations were, was still unclear.

Menori nods at Schmetterling. "I'm fine, thank you. I was looking for the Faettes placed under my care, but... I can't seem to find them." She sighs a little and hangs her head. "They've probably joined the rest of our herd by now. I'm such a failure at this."

She looks up at Schmetterling and cocks her head. "Have you lost your own friends too? It's so hard for us Faettes to find each other in here, isn't it?" The light Faette catches sight of a small group of white and yellow Faettes right next to a similarly coloured Fae and sighs again, this time with some relief. "Of course," she mutters, before turning back to her new companion. "Do you want me to help you find your friends? Mine seem to have gathered near our old herd leader." Her eyes spark at the question, obviously with hope to be at least a little useful.

Lectral

"My friends?  Oh, my herdmates aren't missing.  They were right beside (below?) me when I met you."  Schmetterling looked around; none of the three were below her now, or even within a few feet.  "Hmmm, they seem to have wandered away.  No matter.  We are all going the same place; I doubt they'll worry about me unless they don't see me at the pumpkin patch.  And one would likely prefer to lose me altogether.  The only other faette to join us is not a particularly friendly individual."

She saw the hopeful look on Menori's face, the need to be useful, and smiled.  "I may not need help finding them, yet, but I could definitely use someone to talk to and travel with.  Interested?"

Exodus overhears Schmetterling's comment about the only other faette not being friendly, and bursts into tears. Attempting to pull herself together, she stammers an aoplogy for startling Ti'Kira.

Zivo had been sniffing all the new scents, and managed to wander quite a distance from his fae companion.  Something odd had caught his attention, and he followed the scent to a patch of large, round orange vegetables.  He'd never seen them before (it was his first harvest season, after all), and these were interesting.  Some smelled different than others, though he wasn't sure what the difference was.  He moved closer, investigating the #7 pumpkin.

Ti'kira chuckled softly as he looked at the other faettes. That was when he noticed numbered pumpkins. He rose a brow and trotted over to the number 9 pumpkin. What was behind it and why where they numbered?

Rei shook her head in dismay as she watched two loud faettes walk past, okay to be truthful one loud faette but he was making up in loudness for two people. She snorted slightly and moved in behind Captain and First Mate as silently as she could. "So you're still both around aren't you?"  lowering her head between them hoping to have scared them at least a little. "I thought you both returned that halloween day"

"you both look well for one of you being just er bones... the Captain looks a little healthier though" she laughed evilly before raising her head "look pumpkins!" she moved around them to nose the nearest one(#3)

Menori listens to Schmetterling's explanation and nods. "Of course I'm interested. It's always more fun to have a companion for the road, isn't it?" For a second she wonders whether the other Faette doesn't feel lonely in her own herd, if she doesn't get along with her other Faette herd mate. But then, maybe not all of them are going to the patch?

"And I understand not getting along with all. We have one Fae among us who doesn't really fit in. He actually tried to bite me once," she mutters, shivering slightly. Of course, she had been part of the party who'd been hunting down Melfian's group before they all joined Starwing, but that doesn't make it any less troublesome.

"Look, we're getting close!" She laughs, pointing at those who have already reached the pumpkin patch.

Menori starts to giggle, as she notices a black, white and red flash streak to Pum'kin 8. "Seems like our only foal, Nightshade, has gotten ahead of my herd." She points at the winged foal, who is slowly circling the fruit, not really sure what to do with it next.

Zhenga stepped out of the Trial Marshes and onto the field. It had been a long time since she had left the Marshes, but things were very strange lately, and she had ventured out here to find out why they were. She had hoped that someone upon the fields would know more then her herd of the Marsh Faes. She noticed a gathering of Field Faes near a patch of tilled ground.

Wandering over with her head bowed low, she looked at those gathered. They were a motley crew, and she saw that they were all looking at some rather large pumpkins. She moved closer, trying to hear what was drawing everyone's attention. She could hear nickering coming from behind the pumpkins, and sniffed closer to the one numbered one. Being the first, it seemed like the best option to figure out what was going on. She then looked at the others around.

"Hello all, why are we sniffing strange noise-making pumpkins?" She asked.

((Number 1 for meeeeee))

Reality is only for those who lack imagination.

"ARR!" Captain objected to the sudden voice. He whirled around to face the winged Fae standing directly behind them, intending to give the interloper a good kick in the muzzle. Instead he got a faceful of the back of First Mate's head. The skeletal being had thrown himself between the sudden newcomer and his Captain, red eyes glowing balefully.

"Now that be very impolite, missy," the Captain sneered at Rei from behind First Mate's tricorner hat. "Dun be sneakin' up on two gentlemen out on a mission, ya hear!?"

Whether Rei heard or not, she was quickly distracted by the discovery of the large pumpkins that everyone else was paying attention to. Captain snorted in disgust as she trotted away. "Ah, that one be not for our purposes anyway, Mate," he spoke to his second in command. "The tall ones, can't be trustin' them. But THOSE on the other hoof...."

Together the Captain and his First Mate turned their eyes on the little group of Faettes who had been talking together and were now exploring the pumpkins. "Those  be just fine, just fine for what we want..." the Captain chuckled. "Come on, then!" And he started toward Menori, Schmetterling, Exodus, and Ti'kira.

Gleinir's day was turning out much better than she had thought it was going to be. Although she hadn't found any of her herdmates, she had found two delightful old friends and was spending the day catching up with them. She was especially enjoying listening to Black Fire talk about his herd and his adventures. The stallion had changed so much from his days as a young colt...

The presence of Captain and his First Mate were troubling to her, because she knew how much mischief they caused whenever they appeared around her herd. She wondered if she should be responsible for them? Was she supposed to watch them? It seemed like they usually were hanging around to her herd more than any other, but technically they weren't members. Roan wouldn't allow troublemakers like that. Oh, but what if they hurt someone and she did nothing!? She would feel so awful...

But Black Fire and Flastri were keeping the young Hound Fae distracted with their presence, and before she knew it, the two Halloween Faettes had disappeared from view. She looked around but didn't see them immediately. Oh well, there were so many Faes around...someone would catch those two if they tried to make trouble, right?

Gleinir convinced herself she was right and firmly told herself to enjoy the special holiday. When she noticed a lot of the other Faes were investigating the pumpkins, she walked up to one that seemed particularly large and round (Pumpkin #10) to see what they were all looking at.

Uzuri is always a bit slow in the mornings, but seems to perk up around noon, so just as her morning routine is finished she heads ut towards the pumpkin patch.  As she approaches she hears a lot of noise, the patch seems to be the place to be today, and she agreed, the smell of the morning was still fresh in the air, and it was mixed with the wonderful smell of pumpkins growing, which is why she enjoyed venturing here every now and then.

As she came into better view of the patch she noticed the pumpkins were big this year.  "Wow" She exclaimed out loud as she approaced Pumpkin #6, "These are huge"  She couldn't help but look up as she realized that they were almost as big as she was.  She stood there smiling gawking at the giant pumpkins, unaware of the other fae's around the patch.

Exodus shivvered as she watched the skeletal creatures approaching. Unsure of thier intent, and certainly unaccustomed to thier appearance, she hid herself behind the large pumpkin she was exploring, peeking from behind it to watch.

Captain, the burly brown Faette with pegleg and eyepatch, regarded the group of Faettes closely. His one good eye zeroed in on the pretty purple unicorn with white patches as she darted for cover. "Well well!" he announced loudly. "Who be this?! Come on, Mate, let's introduce ourselves!"

The sturdy Captain marched into the pumpkins, completely ignoring the big orange vegetables that seem to interest everyone else. He was after much different prey today. His skeletal First Mate trailed behind him like a macabre shadow.

Captain thrust his muzzle into the filly's face. "Now who you be?" he demanded with a gleam of interest in his one visible eye. "A pretty little thing like you, out here all alone without a herd, eh?"

He glanced at his First Mate, who as always just stood silent, glowing red eyes boring into Exodus. Then Captain turned back to look at her. "We be lookin' for certain cap'ble young Faes to join our crew." He smirked. "And you be just what we're lookin' for!"

Exodus let out a yelp as the face was suddenly in her own.

"I um.. well, hi.. I'm Exodus." she managed to stammer.

When the Captain finished speaking, she blushed a bit.

"Well, I .. I mean.. I dont have a herd yet. But I'm ok I think." She nodded to herself, trying to collect her thoughts, " I dont know anything about crewing. But have you tried tasting these pumpkins? They are kind of nummy."

Attempting to calm herself and change the subject, she nosed a small stray pumpkin towards the pair. She then stomped open another for herself and took a tentative nibble, trying to not take her eyes off them as she ate.

The Captain threw back his head and laughed loudly. "Well played, Miss Exodus! Well played!" he congratulated the filly heartily. "Tis not every day we be offered to break bread--nor veggies--with such a fine figure as yerself!" He winked his good eye.

Tipping his head to look at the pumpkin she had rolled toward him, Captain seemed to hesitate a moment but then lifted his golden hoof and smashed down on the vegetable with gusto, splattering seeds and pulp along the ground. He ducked his head and tore into the remains with bright white teeth, pumpkin innards trailing in his black beard.

"I canna refuse an invitation from someone such as yerself," he insisted. "Mighty thanks for the meal!" He glanced sideways at the skeletal Fae and then added, "Dun be insulted by my First Mate here, he ain't the eatin' sort, if ya get my drift."

Chuckling, the Captain finished his mouthful of pumpkin and straightened. "Now back to the topic at hoof, Miss Exodus," he announced, starting to trot around some of the larger pumpkins. "You see, we dun care a wit if'n ya know much about 'crewin' or not, heh heh. It ain't a prerequist fer the position, aye?" The burly Faette completed half a circle around poor Exodus, so that he stood behind her and his First Mate stood in front, trapping her between them. "And you see, we ain't the kind to be taken 'no' for an answer, savvy?" He smirked at the little Fae in triumph.

Ti'kira chuckled as he watched the Captain and first mate. He moved forward and nuzzled Exodus on the neck. "Captain do you really need more for your crew? What do you do with your crew by the way?" The older stag chuckled softly as Black Rose came over and stood next to them. They had been around these two faes before and it always made Ti'kira laugh every time Captain tried to make someone else a crew member.
Golden scared skin shifted slightly as Ti'kira let his weight move to his right side. He was having fun and he would continue to have fun. But he did not want these two causing trouble. Well more like Captain causing trouble.

Omorose was grazing quietly, watching her son out of the corner of her eye.  He was busy chasing Nephthys, the beautiful sand coloured Nix that had taken such a shine to him.  Anytime the bird would allow him to get close, it would dart away, causing the now grown stallion, to laugh and dart after her, as best he could in this terrain.  Amenti, a desert reet, was searching for bugs nearby and screeched in alarmed as the stallion galloped close by.   It flapped it's wings angrily and ran over to hide underneath the desert mare.  "They are just having fun, they mean you no harm."  Omorose cooned soothingly to the small creature.  She nuzzled it in an attempt to pacifier the disgruntled reet, when her son's voice reached her.

"Mom!  I hear fae voices coming from this direction.  It sounds like quite a few".  Osiris had paused in his antics, and Nephthys had entangled herself in his golden mane.  He was standing quite still, ears pricked attentively in the direction he had heard the voices.  He quivered slightly, the anticipation of others being around was exciting and he wondered who would be in the gathering, if indeed a gathering was occurring.

Omorose made her way over to her son with Amenti following close at her heels.  She stood next to him and pricked her ears in the same direction as her sons.  Yes, she heard the voices too.  "It is getting close to Halloween, and we have strayed quite far from home these past few days.  So it is possible there is a gathering of faes occurring.  Let us go and see."  She stretched out her wings and shook out her mane, before tucking her wings again and heading off in the direction of the voices with her son at her side.

The two desert faes did not have to travel far before they found the source of all the noise.  There were indeed quite a few faes and faettes gathered together.  The two scanned the group, both looking for the cause of the excitement that was running through the air as well as friends from other herds.

((I've never really RPd before but I'll give it a try  :)))

Orach had been out for his afternoon flight when he noticed a herd of Faes gathered on the field below.  Interested in making new friends, he circled back and touched down.  He gave himself a shake to settle his feathers and looked for a friendly face.  Recognizing another Marsh Fae, he decided to say hello to Zhenga first.

As Orach ambled in her direction, he was distracted by the pumpkin patch.   He stopped to nose at a big pumpkin with the number 5 on it.
