SGA/SC's (new) RP sign up thread (Players check thread and your PM's!)

It has been a while (quite a while!) since I posted for interest in SC based rp and sign ups.  Because of this and my not knowing who is still interested and active, I am "starting over"; as well as changing how I had planned to do things.  Some of the things form the initial interest thread still stand but some things will be changed.  If you never saw the old thread, or don't remember it, that's fine, you don't need to.  I'm only mentioning it for those who do remember, so they won't be confused about any thing they see that might be differant.

A major change from the original rp plan, is that you will not be playing yu.  You will also not get to "create" your character.  A group of characters will be created for use in the rp, and one will be assigned to you.  It will be your task to rp this charater to the bets of your ability.  Your characters information will be PM'd to you, as some charaters may have secrets that no one else would/will know right away.

There is no specific end date for the rp, it will end when it ends.  Or maybe it won't end, we'll see.  If it does run long, then I'll try to break it up into "sessions", to keep it form getting too overwhelming for anyone (myself included).  I am still very much uncomfortable with forum based RP, and have never actually ran any rp myself.  So please do bear with my stumbling and fumbling about.

The rp will utilize the forums new dice feature, as well as my physical dnd dice here at home, it may also use elements of random.org.

We will (atleast for now) start out using "turns".  Where in everyone can post once, in between each of my posts.  When/if it becomes needed, then that will change to everyone can post once, until I post a responce to your post, then you can post again.  We'll see how this works out, and if I need to change the method at some point.  The key intent here, is to try and keep things form moving so fast that people can't keep up and become "lost" and discouraged form playing.

There will be "prizes/rewards" given out/won during the course of the rp.

If during the course of the rp you will need to be "away" for a length of time (days/weeks) then pm me to let me know and we will work out an rp scenario to explain your characters absence for a while.  This way you can still play when you return.

If a question comes up, on whether something truly failed or not, I will be the final say on if it did.  Does that mean I am the final authority?  Yes, yes it does.  I am the Dungeon Master, the Role Play Master, the Guide, the Judge and Jury.  There will be no arguing or fighting tolerated.

I plan to try and get this going as soon as possible, so there isn't really a start date/time.  I will need some time to create characters and such, but I'm hoping to get a good start on that today. 

I would like to have a variety of characters, young and old, male and female.  To this point, please answer the following..

3. Do you feel comfortable roleplaying an animal?

The last is unlikely for the most part, but there just in case.  While SC's will be included in the rp, they will be rp'd by me for the most part, at least initially anyway.  But in case, I wnated to check, I know some people (myself included heh) do find it unnerving/difficult to rp as an animal.

Character Creation is now underway.  I had to update my Sims, apparently heh

And yes, I am creating characters in Sims, so you/we will have actual images of the characters.  The initial plan previously was to have my sis draw character images of everyone and the NPC's, but she lacks time to do that now, so it was this or no images.  I want images lol  And I like my sims game and this gives me an excuse to use it anyway lol

Anyway..

Is the lack of interest because last time I never managed to actually run the rp, or more because of the fact you don;t get to create your own characters?

Ryu I'm usually the opposite lol  I always find it difficult/uncomf somehow, trying to rp animals.

And OK, we have enough people that we should be able to do this, even if one or two can;t post now and again.  I just need to finish character creation (npc's as well!) and get some SC's prepared for your use.  Then get everyone's Character's Invites wrote up and sent out lol  Once you receive your chars "invitation" in the "mail" then you know the rp will have officially started.

FYI when I said I was creating the characters, you will receive images, with info about your character, where they are from, age etc, some of you will have more information then others, you will receive some set traits/personality bits etc, but not a complete break down as I do want you to be able to make the characters your own.  It's basically just a really big stepping stone, for you to build off of. 

And if that confuses anyone, feel free to PM me or post questions.  But hopefully when I send you your character "sheets" it will be more clear.

I just wanted to show you what I was doing in regards to characters.  There is a "collage" of sorts, with a full body frontal view of the character, as well as two head shots, one from the front and one from the side.  This is so you can fully see what a character looks like, but to save space during the RP I am also creating smaller head shots, so that they (the head shots) can be included in each characters rp posts.  This is an attempt to make things less confusing for people like me who tend to forget word/written descriptions of the characters of other people when I rp with them.  I usually end up spending about 80% of an rp scrolling backwards to re-read character descriptions for people that my character interacts with.  Hopefully posting the head shot with each of your rp posts will save time, and won't be too annoying for anyone.

For anyone who plays Sims for PC, you know that when creating a new Sim you get to create a wardrobe of sorts.  You get to create a handful of different outfits, for varying times/occasions.  Initially when creating Sims for our RP, I intended to just do the one outfit, the one that your character would be wearing when he/she arrives at the (RP). 

But.. I have a love of *cough*addiction*cough* to Sims, and couldn't resist fully creating their wardrobes.  I created the outfits (the best I could, my clothing options are quite limited still) based on how I personally viewed/thought of the character, and how *I* would RP it if it were mine.  Don't worry, you will not be forced to use these extra outfits!  But, if you find yourself curious about them and wish to see your characters extra's, let me know.  I'm happy to share

In other news, I have 10 SC stallions colored and waiting in the wings to accompany us on our RP.  I'd show them to you, but I haven't uploaded them quite yet.. They are essentually markingless, but they do come with bridles equipped.  I tried to include a range of colors from white through black, but I fear my shading makes some of the colors look a bit.. off.  For example I have a white, creamello, and palomino.  But I'm not sure how close to the real deal that the shades/hue's come.  Especially the creamello, for some reason the shading/highlighting on my lines kept turning cream to green.  Now he isn't green, but he is very very light, and awfully close to the white boy.  Anyway I hope you all enjoy them, despite their plain markingless coats.

Progress Update

I have character sheets mostly filled out (my part of them anyway), got hair color, eye color, height, age, bday, even blood types listed.  Still need weights!  And I still have 2 characters to create images for in sims, since it crashed this morning while I was trying to work; and I still need to roll IQ's for everyone.

I have work tomorrow, and I work 5 days this coming week, so not sure how I will feel in the energy department. But I will find (or make) time to keep pushing through on these.  I dunno what to do about the weight issue at this point, if I can't find someone who is a good judge to look at the characters and give me a reasonable estimate, then I dunno.. should we just go with generalizations (slim, average, heavy) and then sub classify by (Slim/Slim and wiry (for muscles), Average/Average and Fit (again for muscles), and Heavy/Heavy and Built (and once again, for muscles)?

What do you all think/suggest?

OK, I have only heard from a few of you, and only one has sent me an inventory list so far.  I realize last month was NANO, and I know a lot of folks here on Secundi participate in that, and so I was happy to wait.  Now it is December and we have Christmas, and everyone is busy with family, friends, celebrations etc.  So I am still happy to wait.

But.. It would be nice to know, who all still plans to participate.  Even if you can't RP right now, you can maybe get your inventory list to me for checking over, and any other information that may have been requested of you for your particular character.  If we can get the details out of the way now, then when the holidays are over and we all have more time to relax and RP, we can maybe slip right into that, instead of waiting on everyone to get sorted then.

Also.. it would be nice to know what everyone thinks of their characters.  Do you like them, do you hate them?  I know having characters created/assigned this way is a bit unorthodox, it's an experiment, and I understand fully that experiments can fail as easily (or more easily) then they can succeed.  But without feedback of some sort, I have no basis to judge the success or lack there of on.  Except to think that maybe everyone completely hates their characters, and is just too nice to tell me.  Which you shouldn't be, really, I'd like to know lol
