Welcome to the Gene Pool. Please dont drink the water!

The Gene Pool is a highly genetic adoptable. Before you begin, you may wish to research genetics, you can start with a google search on the Pennit Square. Or, feel free to skip the science lessons and jump right into the event and see what happens!

Genetic traits won't be available for viewing until such times as someone successfully breeds a mutation into thier fish!

To start things off, Im looking for a few brave souls. You see, we have no idea what to expect. Our silly scientists were experimenting with genetics on fish. Someone accidently let a monkey loose in the lab (dont worry, he was a pet, not an experiment!) and it went crazy breaking things.

We now are looking at a giant vat of bubbling chemicals. All we know is, this used to be a fishtank. We need a few brave volunteers to reach in there with this net and try to catch whatever is inside!

If you would like to try your luck with the net, just post "I'm brave enough!"

the scientists hand out nets

"Go ahead, Okami, you're first.." they step back from the tank, almost fearful, as you dip your net into the colored waters

"Well now, that doesnt seem so unusual." they grab it to study it

Bolstered by the first pull, they dont step back quite so far as Mutt takes a net and tries it out.

"interesting, this one appears to be a male" they say, taking it for a sample.

Smiling now, they hand Dunkel.Prinzessin204 her net, encouraging her to pull out a fish from the rainbowed brine.

Once again, they take the little female fish away to give it a checkup.

Patting themselves on the back as if they had been the brave ones to reach into the vat, they hand Ryuukokoro a net.

They take away this male as well.

About 10 minutes later, they come back into the room. All 4 fish are in little plastic travel bags of water.

"Our scientists have studied these samples. We have determined they have 40 pairs of genes that we do not know what they do. We would like to ask you to do us a favor. Please take care of these fish. Raise them, breed them. Let us know what the results are. We are most curious to see what happens."

With that, they hand you the bags.

(event is not over, if more people wish to try, there is a lot of motion left in the colorfull chemical spill fish tank!)

I don't have a cert for them, hoping once agencies are open they will be swimming thier way there. However, names can go in thier owners folders descriptions for now (also where genetic strings will be located) so naming them here is fine

Showing up just as 4 people were exiting with thier new fish, Yruvian is also given a net.

After a brief checkup and genetic sample gathering, they bring her back to you in a bag.

The motion inside the tank of swirling colored liquid has noticably diminished, but has not stopped. It appears there are more fish in the tank.

With Nighthenges netted wriggler, it appears all motion in the tank has stopped. There's no more fish. The scientists snatch up all the fish that were netted and take them in the back room for thier checkup. They ask everyone to please wait a moment, because they will need homes for the fish once thier physical and samples are done.

The scientists come back and begin handing fish back to those who caught them. They inform you of thier initial conclusions- there are fully 20 genetic pairs that are dedicated to coloration on varius parts of the body. They havent managed to determine dominance of those genes yet. The last 20 pairs of unusual genetic markers, they have no idea what they do!

at this point, the scientists ask the remaining netters to hold on just a moment longer, because one of the machines needed a minor repair before the sampling could continue.

(aka, I burned through my 20 premades and need to go color up 6 more!)

none of them actually show patterns at this time. The natural highlights and shading are designed to pick up the colors beneath them, so certain colors appear to have a more mottle or belly-striped appearance, but I assure you, there's no colored patterns showing yet
