Storm Chaser Equipping now Open

Arriving at the compound you see workers busy setting tables up while animals of all sorts frolic about playing, and generally getting in the way.  The corrals to either side are filled with Storm Chasers, adults to one side and foals to another. 

A door slamming draws your attention to a small brown building, an old tool shed now converted into a greeting/waiting room.  A steel haired lady is just exiting the building holding a large silver tray with iced lemonade, Tea, and frosted glasses.  Spying you she smiles a greeting and sets her tray down on a table beside the door, next to plates and various frosted treats.

"Hello!" She says, coming over to greet you.  "I'm Elsie, were doing training this week.  Are you here to sign up?  The sign up tables are that way" pointing off beside the building to some tables and chairs set up under a large apple tree.  "We're running behind and in a rush, so double check you have your paperwork in order before turning it in, or your friends may be skipped over!"  Smiling she shoo's you on towards the tree "Don't worry now, it should be pretty simple, and if you have any questions, you just come find me."  Turning back she heads back into the shack "And help yourself to some refreshments, I made them myself!"

Heading over towards the tree you notice one larger table has a "Training" sign, and piles of forms waiting with a box of freshly sharpened pencils to the left.  To right of the forms is a large glossy sheet with instructions.  Glancing up you notice a few people already seated at some of the smaller tables scattered throughout the shade beneath the tree.[/size]

Sign up Instructions

• Take one form per Storm Chaser you wish to have trained.  Read it over and fill it out completely.  If you have questions ask.


• If there is a question that doesn't pertain to you at this time, simply write N/A in that field.


• You must have supply one training halter per foal being trained.  You will not get the halter back.


• You must supply one Bridle per Adult being trained.


• Remember when applying points, remember that no "starting stat" can be raised above 15 via "Owner assigned" points.  If you need a reminder about stats, how they work, assigning them etc, please refer to this page http://shadowgate.jimdo.com/storm-chasers-eventing-information/


• Foals are our priority, and will be sent to the front of the line.


• If an SC is already equipped with a halter or bridle, then they cannot be further trained at this time.

A reminder to everyone with foals.  They are set to auto grow on Aug 1.  If you do not get them trained (equipped with halter) before they grow, you will lose out on a chance for those extra few stat points.

The naming item has not been coded for use yet, please do not try and use it, as I am unsure what (if any) kind of problems this may cause in the coding stuff for Silv.

Completing Training

Once training is complete, your SC's can be found in the cooling off pen.  There you can see how well they did in training (how many stats the dice rolled for you).  Once you see them there please post this form to assign stats.  Remember, you can raise no stat above 15 if your SC is 1st Gen.

A rather frazzled looking boy comes out and looks around, glances at a notepad in his grubby hand and looks around again, spotting Sunchaser he brightens up a bit and walks over to her "Excuse me Miss" quick glance back at his notes "Miss Sunchaser?  I'm Danny, my paw said fer me to tell you that there is a bit of a problem with your friends.  It seem's Mystery has already completed her basic trainin, she's insistin she's only here to make sure her friends are trained proper like." rubbing his nose with his thumb he leaves a dirt smear behind as he checks his notes again "and ah yep here tis'!  Hope is refusin ta be fitted to her bridle fer trainin.  She's flat insistin that she is meant to have a special bridle and wants ter wait on it ter be ordered for her."  Lookin back up from his notes he blinks big blue eyes at you expectantly "so.. whatch yer want us ter do Miss?"

Two of Sunchasers friends are led out to the cooling pen while she talks to Danny, but the other two remain inside.

Translation: Mystery is already equipped with a racing bridle, and already has her training points assigned.  So she has been removed from my to-do list, as she can;t be "Bridle trained" more then once.  And I held off on equipping and "training" Hope, until I could check with you first.  I remember when she was made for you, you mentioned you would have a bridle custom made for her to match a different Hope's wing colors.. I think.. Anyway, did you still want to wait until you can order a custom bridle for her, or do you want me to go ahead and equip her with a standard colored bridle?  I just want to be sure before I do anything, as bridles are a permanent addition, if you equip standard colors now, you won;t be able to change it later.

YLO I'm afraid I can;t fix Skip, as he was colored by another colorist, so all I ever had for him was his .png file, not his .psd.  I did save a .psd file for "most" of the SC's that I colored, as well as their .png files.  but for ones colored by other people, I have just the .png's in most cases.A rare few I have the .psd's for, but Skip isn't one of them

Sunny you'll need to wait for a different event to get a bridle custom colored.  This one is using all standard bridles, because of the rush to beat the grow date on foals.  I'll let you know when I can get it done for you *hugs*

Done with SweetCaroline and BabyKittenCandy's.  Also updated the ones that had training points posted.

We're running out of time for training foals, so any stragglers need too get posted asap.  All foals currently in the system will grow on Aug 1st.  They probably won;t all grow at the same exact time, but they should all grow at some point on the 1st.  Apparently they will grow at aproximately the same time of day that they were entered into the system for growing.  So if you log in and see your foal has not grown, don;t panic, just give it a bit more time and check again later.  If they haven't grown by Aug 2 Secundi time, then give me a poke and I'll see if I can figure out why.

If you have a foal and fear there isn't time left to equip and train it, then go ahead and post it.  Any foals posted to the thread for training, with a timestamp before aug 1, will receive training points.  Even if they are added after the foal grows.  You might miss out on getting to see the halter actually worn by your foal, but you will get the points if you post before the deadline.  You do still have to have a halter in your inventory, and it will be removed once the points are added.  If you wait until after the clock ticks over on aug 1 to post, you're out of luck sorry.  I want to move on to other things as soon as I can.

YLO I've been thinking about it while I worked, and thought that maybe she (the colorist) just turned the eye white layer off by mistake when she colored Skip.  If that was the case, it should be relatively easy to "fix".  However, when I try to insert the colored png of skip into my psd stally template it didn't work out as easy as I thought it might.

For one thing, the eye white is on a separate layer form the rest (which should have made it easy as I thought) but there are also 2 layers of highlights in addition to the shading layer, and the color part of the eye is a separate layer again.  Each of the highlight layers has highlights over the eye section, as well as over the rest of the body.  I was able to section those off and put them where they belong over the eye color without using the rest of the body highlights, and then added in the eye white.

Two things however..

1. The eye shows more white now then normal (if it had been colored and saved normally I mean).
2. With the way this was done, it does look like it may have been deliberate on the colorists part.  For whatever reason, the highlighting seems to have been erased form the eye area when she colored Skip.  The highlights are still there over the rest of the body, and missing only from the eye area.  I can;t think how that could happen accidentily.  The eye white layer could have been turned off on accident, but with the highlights missing there as well it does appear this was deliberate.  And if it was deliberate, you might want to consider keeping him as is, as I don;t know if/when Indigo (the colorist) will ever be returning to us.

So, that being said, I saved a copy with the eye white showing.  It still doesn't look "quite" like a normal SC's eye to me.  I haven't saved over the copy that is currently uploaded to your Secundi, I want to be sure which "version" of skip you want first, as once I save over him I won;t be able to retrieve him.

It's up to you, whichever way you think he looks best.  Click the thumby to see full view.

Oh and YLO, as for a competitions event, I'd like to run one as soon as I can.  However, I have discovered all my notes are missing.  So there might be a bit of a delay before I can do that :S  I have to either find those notes, or re-create a new eventing system.  I was relying quite heavily on another worker to help me with the math part of that, and she is gone now so..

Winged..  When a Foal gets a halter equipped, or an adult gets a bridle equipped, they recieve 1d4 bonus stat points that their "owner" can assign to stats of their choosing (except if it puts a stat over 15, thats not allowe don starters).  This is what I call "training".  Once a halter is equipped to a foal, it cannot be removed until the foal grows.  therefor a second halter cannot be equipped for "extra" training.  ANd racing bridles are a permanent addition to your adults, so those too, can only be one equipped. 

Additional "training" is garnered through events.  Like the competitions currently running.  SC's compete in the events, earn experience points, and once enough experience points has been earned then they recieve an additional stat point "owners" can assign as they choose.  Stat points earned this way CAn raise a stat above 15.

It's a slower method of earning stat points, and is essentually garnered through the experience of actual competing, as oposed to a "trainer" training your SC.  That's what the purpose of the halter and bridle's are for, to give you a chance at faster/easier stat point additions.  (Also, just so I could find a practical reason for halters and bridles to be useful as somethign other then decoration lol)

There is the possibility that I will host other events sometime that you can have a trainer train your SC for a straight up stat point, but for now, it's just the equipping of bridle and halter.

Lyra has her bridle on, and has been "trained" already at the time of it being equipped.  If you are ever in doubt and want to double check, all you have to do usually is add the stat points up. 

A first generation (starter) SC should have a total of 25 stats unless it has a halter or bridle equipped.  A halter gives a potentual of 4 extra points, as does a bridle (so an SC that had a halter as a foal and now has a bridle could have anywhere form 2 to 8 extra points).

Of course, as the SC's start competing and earning levels, the math will get wonky there.  but for now it's a good way to double check there were no mistakes made when importing and such
