White Elephant Christmas

It's the holiday season again so that means it's time for my favorite game, the White Elephant Gift Exchange! Don't worry about bringing a present this year, I've already taken care of that. Just bring yourself and be prepared to have a good time!

Because of the nature of the white elephant game, we needed to know exactly how many people are playing. This is because there is one gift for each person, and we needed to prepare the gifts ahead of time. This means if you didn't sign up by the specified date, you can't play! I'm sorry.

White Elephant? Wha...?

The White Elephant Gift Exchange is a long-standing tradition at Christmas parties. There's lots of variations of the game, so please no one say "That's not how you play it!" after you read through the rules. :3 Usually at parties everyone brings a small gift wrapped up, the contents hidden. The guests are put in random order, and on your turn you can either open a present or switch your present with someone else who has already opened theirs. We keep playing until all the gifts are open! The last person to open the last gift has the choice of keeping it or switching with anyone else, so in this game, going last is the best. :3

It's a fun game of surprise and strategy so please don't get upset if an Okibi you liked gets switched out by someone else. All Okibi in this game are going to have Unique Markings, so they're all special! ^_^ The Okibi are going to be colored by myself and CrystalAngelNeko (and they'll be randomized so she doesn't know what's in the gifts X3 ).

We'll get more details on how exactly the game is played when we get closer to start time. Sorry that everyone will have to wait a week for the game to begin, but I wanted to give lots of time for people to sign up and also give us time to color gifts. Thanks for your patience!

I have typed up a bit of an explanation in the second post. You're free to ask any questions, and we'll get into more details when the game starts. It's fun and easy to figure out once we get started! X3

Usually the only trouble I have playing this game with adoptables is that the speed depends on how often the players check the thread. But we all understand real life happens. Hopefully the game will move swiftly and it will be a blast! ^_^

Game Starts Tonight!

Hello everyone and welcome to the official start of the Okibi White Elephant game! We have 23 sign ups and 23 absolutely gorgeous prizes, thanks mainly to CrystalAngelNeko for doing so much work in such a short amount of time.

In Post 2 you will see the sign-up list has been randomized. Kahlira is our first player!

In Post 4 you will see the presents are wrapped and ready to be opened! (I can't officially open any presents until tonight, as I don't have my laptop here at work. But Kahlira, if you're here sometime today you are welcome to choose which present you'd like opened at any time.)

Game play will go as follows:

-Each person will get a turn in the order showed on the second post

-On your turn you can either open a present or 'steal' a present from someone else. If you open a present, your turn is over. If you steal a present, the person you took from (who now has no gift) can choose to open a new gift OR 'steal' from someone else (not the person that just took from them). If they open a present, the turn is over. If they steal, that person (who now has no gift) can choose to open a new gift or steal, etc. etc. etc.

-Any gift that is stolen 3 times (does not count the original opening of the gift) will be automatically 'locked' with that last person and can no longer be stolen by anyone.

-Game play ends when the last present is opened. That last person can choose to keep the opened gift or steal someone else's, but in this case the last present goes to the other person and the game ends.

Winged, typically the next person doesn't go under the previous person's present has been opened. ^^ You can still choose to open a new gift if you like, but you might want to wait til tonight and I can show Kahlira's open present.

The purpose of the game is to give you the choice between opening a mystery gift or taking one you already know what it looks like. But I don't want to tell you how to play the game, just making sure the rules are clear for you. ^^;;

For now it's a special Christmas item, but I do have it templated for all the breeds (thanks to Crystal!) so it may show up as a normal wearable item later. For now it is only for this event! :3
