In this lovely winter, the gidgets are gathering indoors for a special event.
The most pretty of them want to show themselves off.

So befriend a special gidget and enter it into one of the pageant categories
and maybe you could win some shiny prizes!

Guidelines for Entry

Befriend (color) gidgets that you think best fit the Pageant Themes

Layers MUST remain intact, same file type preferred
you can google psd upload sites that are free for use
or email attach them to garnetbelial@hotmail.com

Do NOT flatten, merge, or otherwise corrupt the layers.
I can not shade gidgets that don't have their layers intact,
so these submissions will be pointless and void.

Coloring and newly made edits must be on their own layer please.
Yes, you can edit the lines if you think it'll look okay XD

For the moment
you can enter gidgets in TWO themes per category.
(I may change this if there aren't enough people submitting)

Each gidget can only be entered in one theme.
So if you enter four themes, you must have four different gidgets.

Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter
Holidays: New Years, Valentines, Halloween, Christmas
Animal mimics: mammals, fish, birds, miscellaneous
Art and Design: abstract art, line edits, natural gidgets, show gidgets

How to Submit Gidgets
Submissions must be sent by PM, NOT posted.
Do NOT tell anyone which gidgets belong to you.
I know it's tempting to share your work, but please wait until after voting.

Please put

and the link to the entering gidget

for each entry, multiple per PM accepted
or you can do one every couple days

Entries accepted until Jan 16th at some point like 18:00 or so.

My only question about the rules.. especially with lineart edit section. Is it ok to add an additional layer, that doesnt interfere with existing ones?

ponymama, it took me a sec to figure out lol. the layers are they, you just have to move the transparency slider from 0% to 100%

eta question: if we do major line edits (for the edit contest) should we do our own shading as well, or at least for those areas?

No please, I do all shading by hand on the actual colored layers.

To me gifting to others is more important than coloring a contest entry for myself

Entries are open for another week, but that's it, deadline is the 16th.

i vote no posty. some people may figure out who posted what if theres only a couple people who have said they entered, and only a couple entries. may be unfair having people guess who entered what.

and, unfair coloring based off what others did. the first entries didnt get to look at other people's entries when they colored, not fair the late entries should. Already know what catagories have entrants, thats already a decent advantage. Can color for something that has no entries to raise your chances.

I don't mind either way.  I am done I believe.  Didn't do my full amount of allowed entries, but I can;t think of anything else to do for any of the category/themes I have left open, so I've sent in the ones I did, and will try and relax some now.  I've done way too much on adobe the past few days, and my eyes are killing me.  So I'll give them a nice break, so I can enjoy coloring some fishies later.

Later as in tomorrow.. or the day after lol  no time too soon though I think.

M'kay, after colouring a few, sera's suddenly wondering if she's colouring them correctly. xD;;;

Do we need to make a new layer for the colours, or do we lay them atop the grey (or pink, for the body) locked layers?

Keep the same layers please, they're locked so you can color in them, nice and simple XD

for the body, wing, and extra layers (but especially the body) I duplicated them, and colored on the duplicated layer, making the originals invis.  I did however, change the base color of the originals to white, as for some reason even with them invis when I use the blur tool on the layers I was coloring on, I'd get the magenta/grey showing up.  It was really odd, never happened to me before, and I haven't a clue why it did now.

I dunno if I was meant to do that or not mind you, i kinda crossed my fingers after mailing my first set, hoping I wouldn;t get a note back telling me to redo.. hich I didn;t, so hopefully it was OK.

didn't forget, but of the 8 allowed entries I only have 2 left, and I just can't seem to think of anything to do for the categories i have left open..  So, I'm honestly probably done entering.  If, by some chance I think of somethign before the end date, I'll surely enter, but yea, prolly not.
