Did anyone else feel today's earthquake on the east coast?  We felt it here in central Pennsylvania, and the news is saying the epicenter was in Virginia.  First time I've actually felt an earthquake.  It was weird!

Oddly enough, we didn't feel it in Portsmouth, considering that most of the surrounding areas did, but I was on the phone with my dad when it happened (he lives in northern VA) and the sound of stuff rattling and falling off of shelves made me jump. This is kind of an odd place for something like that to happen, we aren't used to earthquakes in this state. XD

I've been getting in touch with friends and family over Facebook since the cell lines are crowded, but it seems like everyone I know is okay. =)

My neighbor felt the ground moving a bit here in NC. I wouldn't know though, wasn't paying attention. XD

I didnt feel it however earthquake activity in the eastern US has been picking up in the past year.  The epicenter of this one in in a mining community in Virginia just north of Richmond.  Earthquakes are wild...the feeling is definitely note worthy.

We didn't feel anything here in southern Maine, but that's not too surprising, we're kinda far out.

I hope everyone is okay! :C

Winged

Suprisingly enough, we didn't feel anything over here in Scotland xD How bad was it?

hehehehe 5.8...just enough to shake things up.  Not like the Japanese quake or the Chilean quakes.

I am now going to imagine everything winged says with a thick Scottish brogue. XD

We felt it over here, friends in Maine felt it, too. I know most might say I'm crazy, but that was pretty fun. XD

You have friends in Maine!? Someone has heard of my little ole' state, I'm shocked! ^.^

Maybe I missed it cuz my office is on the top floor of the building.

SkySong

They just moved there a few months ago, yup. :)

I'd think you'd feel more of it if you were up higher, though.

haha, i do have a scottish accent but it's not strong. I do know some people who you can hardly tell what they're saying, their accent is so strong! But where i live we don't typically have a strong scottish accent.

Nothing here in GA, that I noticed, but we're pretty far off too!

Hope everyone is safe and not too much damage was done... I haven't been watching the news enough to know if there were any problems.

Neocridders

I didn't feel it over here in Southern Ohio, but apparantly some people around here did... I dunno. I didn't feel anything.

Never felt one before. Must be scary!

I heard about that when me and my buddy went to BrownTown Outfitters. (the UPS store that sells clothes in our neck of the woods that was recently moved to a bigger spot outside the UPS grounds) I was like o.O Didn't feel a thing. Haven't really seen a news report (the one I watch comes on at 6:30, which is in about 20 minutes) I just hope and pray that everyone is ok.

I'm in Kentucky. (Well, Louisville, Kentucky, so a bit aways from Virginia)

I'm catching the news now with my parents, the quake is the only thing they're talking about lol. Apparently the reason it was felt all up and down the coast is because the east coast is like one giant solid slab of granite rock, so the vibrations travel far, while other places (like the west coast) are more made up of broken plates.

According to my news station, the quake was felt as far north as Toronto! :O

Kahlira

Very interesting this all is O.O

My channel is focusing more on the local right now.

Yeah, this morning at work we were skyping with some people who work at the east coast office... the quake happened just about 10 minutes after we got off with them! They were in Washington DC in Maryland. No damage or anything, thankfully. When no one gets hurt, and when they're small, earthquakes are pretty exciting. ^^;
