I think I've confused myself...

Ryuu, do you mean that you want to start another herd and claim land, or you want to claim land within your herd's territory?

*runs off for date with hubby*

I'll be back later!!

Ryuukokoro

I thought you had said in an earlier post that after this first 'experimental' game, in the future other games will let all herd members claim squares. Maybe I read it wrong? I was just saying I look forward to those future games, where we can claim even if we're not the leader. But if I'm remembering wrong, that's fine too lol.

I think Rav and Crystal are doing a great job, I'd just like to be more involved in the game. ^^

Ravvana

I decided to name Shara's Story Sansa :)

For any new breeding forms/permissions, please post here!

http://thefables.weebly.com/forums-for-forms.html#/offtopic/

This will help me from getting them jumbled in the thread and having difficulty finding them to make your babies. ;)

Any breedings already posted in the thread, I moved to the site myself.

For all herds, and jobs, and whatnot that haven't been posted on the thread, please move them over to the website forums as well to the herd page.

http://thefables.weebly.com/forums-for-forms.html#/herd-information/

This will help us organize things.  I'll start posting the daily games for next week soon as well.  That will give everyone more time to enter.

I think I'd like to name Lichen and Estella's story Liam.

I'm still thinking on my premade Fable's name though. Lol. I cant find anything fitting for him.

Ravvana

Is it just my internet or did the certed Fables get smaller? o_O;; I rather liked the larger old size personally, unless it is just Firefox acting up on me.

Luv007

Ravv, I'll look into it... I'm trying to organize things and some things have gotten messed up.

So I'm taking breedings, but this is going to be my week off as far as square claimings.  I will update all squares claimed for new stories, but no games.  I think that will keep me from getting burnt out.  One week full on, one week off/slow.

Anywhoo... I'll be back to answer Ryuu and Ravv's concerns.  And I'll cert and make your semi, spring.  And make the new bred story asap, as in today or tomorrow.

I also have three litters to color for the kennel.  I have a list of things to do on my computer.  But this morning at least, I want to spend some time with the kids.  We had a minor emergency involving a zip tie and a thumb that was thankfully resolved with fingernail clippers and a cup of very cold ice water.  Where the zip tie came from, I still can't figure.  My point, I'm taking a break for today.  I'll be on and off temporarily, but not here as much as I have been the last week or so.

Wildfilly94

Aww poor thumb and zipper. :( Take your time Luv, I'm sure we all can wait. RL comes first. :)

Also, for my black and rainbow boy, can I name him Xavier?

Luv007

Sure can!  I'll fix him and update him and your beautiful girlie asap.

Today is dedicated to 1. Breeding (which there doesn't seem to be too much off) and 2. Organization of this adoptable, and 3. Clarification of the adoptie.

And the thumb has a little red mark today from the trama, but is otherwise no worse for the wear.  My husband scoured the house and found three more little zip ties and we can't figure where they came from but we *think* we got all of them.  So no more trama.  I have video camera baby moniters in each child's room and I have my computer desk facing the living room/play room so I can see everything that goes on bc I am so paranoid about letting them out of my sight/supervision.  Oddly enough, it's my 18 month old daughter that worries me most.  She tackles her 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 brothers to the ground, scratches them, pulls hair.  She was an angel.... and now she's having to learn to share so I have to keep a very close eye on what is going on between the three.  The brothers are wonderful with her, but very far behind developmenatly, so I'm trying to keep an eye on how the oldest specifically acts.  I can't put my finger on it, but something is off.  He's very intelligent, but lacks verbal skills at all.  The three year old is further along than the four year old.  And same goes for the potty.  We made sticker charts for the potty yesterday.  Every time you go in the potty, you get a sticker.  Problem is that they almost always poop in the diaper and then smear it EVERYWHERE.   However, recently they learned how to clean said poopie and it hasn't happened since.

BabyKittenCandy

A lack of verbal skills is sometimes due to a hearing issue or another child doing everything for them, it was both in the case of my sister.

Potty training is tough, apparantly they will when they are ready, my little on is starting to get the general idea but is still a long way off!

Spixy

Any of you Sokanon herdleaders that can spare a breeding straw? =D

Luv007

The verbal skills worry me, as well as both of the children's inability to answer a question.  Kale talks a lot and in bunches of words, but he also copies everything you say.  Jace talks very rarely.... Usually only I want ____.... and most of the time he can't fill the blank in.  He also doesn't interact well with others just on a general basis and requires a strict routine.  I think what has happened to his potty training is that ever summer they get yanked away from mommy and come to us and emotionally that is hard on any child, but even more so for a child as sensative as Jace.  But Kale translates Jace's jibberish that no one else can make anything from, so perhaps that is exactly what it is.... Kale does all the work for him.

@Spixy- There is always the option of a little love story instead!  With that, breeding is free!

During breeding season, items may be turned in for breeding or two Fables can decide to have a foal.  If a set of Fables does not use breeding nest, there are a few requirements:

1.  They must be of opposite genders.
2.  They must be of the same herd.
3.  The owner/s must write a love story or something explaining the Fables decision to have a foal.  There may be no more than 5 major grammatical mistakes and no more than 10 minor grammatical mistakes.  I am not going to get to particular, but misspelling and capitilization and whatnot are a pet-peeve.  (Younger collectors may send me an email and I will make exceptions... but by younger I mean <15.)  Fables want large herds and co-parent together.  A stud may be monogomous, but he also may have three different mommies to his children.  (Keep in mind, Fables think like humans, but function like horses.)
4.  Other items such as the flowers or henna may not be used for these breeds.  They are only for use with Nesting Straw of some sort.

Also, if your first language is NOT english, let me know so I can adjust the allowance of grammatical errors.

Luv007

http://thefables.weebly.com/forums-for-forms.html#/herd-information/

If all the herds and their members could please post in this forum please, that would be wonderful!!

Also, been playing with things....

How does everyone feel about Border Protectors also having the ability to claim land?  Since they are out protecting the borders, it only sees fair that they can help stretch their herds borders too....

And I thought of this job as well:

The Legend Keeper- Only one per herd- Tells all the stories legends of the past-  Would be responsible for helping create a Fable library by telling stories that are "Fable-ized" such as a hansel and gretel with Fables in the story instead of humans- For each story, the member who submitted the story would gain at least a single square depending on the length and complexity of the story....

Thoughts?

@Ravv- I think the sizes of the Fables has gotten shrunken.  I know at one time I was experimenting with the sizes.  The images now are 350 pixels and they were 500 pixels in the email Leet sent me with the lines.  So....  I can make the image larger again if you would like?  Again, opinions?  I prefer a larger set of lines myself honestly.

@Ryuu- I did say that.  And then I forgot about it.  As is typical of me.  I don't know how we would go about individuals that are within a herd claiming squares.... That could be difficult.  If I'm missing something, feel free to let me know.

I think I may change it that instead of needing five Fables to start a herd, you need five touching squares....

My biggest conundrum at this point is this:  I think there should be a way for herds to 'war' over territory already claimed, but I think it would also cause some toes to be stepped on.  Should I skip over this for now?  I mean, we could always do dice rolls +stamina/strength of a herd to decide on a winner, but again, it could cause toes to get stepped on.  People do adoptable for happiness not for drama.... But I'd like things to be interesting.

Ryuukokoro

I would still vote to allow everyone to claim land. Right now I feel like I'm just sitting on the sidelines pretty much, watching the action. But if you wanted it to be just border protectors and leaders, that works. I will just get a Fable and make him/her a border protector.

The legend keeper sounds interesting. That's a job that requires work for the player to do. Do the other jobs? Like does the builder have to turn something in while building? Does the midwife have to do something during breeding season?

And I don't think it will hurt anyone's feelings to 'war' over squares of the board. ^^ It's all in good fun.

Hmm. Another note: Is there a way for you to make it so people can post to that Fable forum without making an account there? It's a personal thing for me but I detest making accounts for adoptable forums. I just follow so many of them, I can't keep all the account info straight. @_@ Plus it opens your email up to spam and nasty stuff when you join a ton of forums. If not, that's okay, I'll just get one of my other herd members to post info for me when I need to. (But there are forum sections here on Secundi where you can put adoptable info too! Like the Notary Office. :) )

Luv007

#275
All excellent points.  And I'm going to go see about that forums thing right now.... hang on and I'll be back to reply to that post. :)

Edit:  I am definately NOT having any luck figuring this out.  But I'm working on it.

Goddesss

Ryuu I signed in through facebook.  There are different things you can sign in with like google account so maybe that would be an option.

I also feel the same as Ryuu that I am in the sidelines watching but I am not sure everyone should be able to claim land.  I like the idea of border protectors (or any certain job) to be able to help claim land.  I do feel if everyone can it sorta takes away from it.  That is also part of the herds job to pick its more active players to be leaders.  Once this experiment is done then there will be aloud to have other herds.  I am fine with either way though.

I think war would be interesting and fun.  Why have protectors and such if they arent actually doing anything =).  I think it is all in good fun.

BabyKittenCandy

Im like Ryuu, I have too many things im interested in and hate having different forums for them all, which is why I love Secundi so much, so many adopts here in one place. Maybe a few different threads in a few different forums would suffice?

Tbh, I love rp and I love the Fables but there is so much going on atm that I find it difficult to keep up and it puts me off popping into the thread and doing stuff. Imo it could do with being simplified down so it is easier to keep up with, but maybe that is just me, I have more limited time to devote, although im pretty much on all day im not fully focused cos im trying to keep an eye on my lil one and occupy him.

Luv007

#278
BKC- I can completely understand that, trust me!

I'm still working on figuring the kinks out.  But that is what this thread is specifically for, so I'm glad everyone is bringing up the like/dislikes here!

I can see the problems. I'd like to keep forum stuff on Secundi, but threads like we have right now are confusing both to me and owners like you guys.  The info is everywhere.  So we might try this:

General Booths:
Grid Claiming Post- Everything stays in the top few post for me, but you guys will post below to enter in claiming contests or to claim said land.

I split it into a Grid Post, and a Games Post.  That should keep things nice and simple and still leaves one extra thread for new events and active chatter!

Notary:
All of our info and Herd records

Breeding Booth:
A single thread for all Fable owners to post for breedings... and keep the top couple post for deliveries.

Thinking on the job thing, I would like a typical herd to function like this:

Herd Leader is boss and revered.  The herd leaders job is to keep up with the goings on within the herd and ultimately can make a decision without others.

Second in Command is back up and sometimes a little less liked, but generally revered as well.  Second in command should be ready to pick up any slack and to step up as herd leader if something should happen and he/she isn't available.

Border Protectors are loved.  They don't get to stay to close to the herd bc of their job, but herdmates celebrate their homecomings almost like a military family would celebrate a father returning home from deployment.  Border Protectors will need to submit a few short notes on their patrol per week to maintain their positions and claim the square for their herd.

Nursery maids are respected, though under valued for their hard work with the stories.  They stay busy and are either rules by the same chaos as the youngsters or  stern hard control.  Nursery maids will become responsible for the little ones, so they must submit a weekly report on said youngsters as well.  Nursery maids also are quite knowledgable in midwifery and can be contracted out (after the experiment) to deliever certain stories, or keep a special eye on said story.

Builders are workers, also respected, but undervalued.  Most of them are hard working and dedicated to their job.  Builders can build a square per day and to do so must submit a form and a short description of what they are building.  Builders may (after the experiment) be contracted out to build gates around the herd, or around a certain laboring mother, or even around a certain story.

And yes, I'm afraid I just made this more complicated by trying to make it more simple. x.x I wasn't really feeling great yesterday so I didn't get much done, but I'm feeling a lot better today so hopefully I will get more done on here and around the house.

We could possibly even keep a herd thread open in the RP to keep on the herd info and stories would be delivered there, straight to the herd....

Luv007

I just typed up all of next weeks games and rules and went to copy is and accidentally deleted everything.  FAIL.

Eh... Suppose that means I should go work on a different post...

Wildfilly94

Aww, I HATE it when that happens! D:

I typed a HUGE RP post once, and the whole dang thing was wiped out with a littl button i didnt know i pressed.

Ryuukokoro

>.> Ouch! I hate when that happens!!

A small suggestion for games: When you hold the daily games, can you make a new post with winners rather than editing the old post? I was just remembering how much trouble I had when I had to go back pages and scan through all the posts looking for winners when you closed the events. Just a small thought. ^^

I like your idea to break everything up into separate sections. One for breeding, one for events, one for records. And each herd can have a separate thread in the RP section where herd members can make their weekly reports?

Luv007

Ryuu.... Excellent suggestion.  I'll update the first post, but also post at the bottom of the thread.

And yes, I was rather angry.  Instead of clicking copy, I clicked paste and there is no undo in notepad.

But Fables wise, I've written down the next organization idea and we're going to see how that works.  If it works, great.  If not, we'll try again.  Trial and error at it's greatest.

Chuck E Cheese today with the kids so I don't know how long I'll be home, but I'll be on and off today and all weekend.

GET YOUR BREEDING IN!  Breeding closes 23:59 Saturday, Jul 09, 2011!

Luv007

Ravvana

(in reference to the claim thread -- wanted to keep that one clean)

Now I want a Daria Fable XD; Should would definitely be a palomino tobiano... or maybe chestnut tobiano. Some day <3

Which brings me to a question... Will customs ever be available? :) It would be so much fun to RP my RL horse Sean as a Fable.

Also, I'm going to be out of town until the 20th with only spotty internet access on a friend's iPhone. Is that going to be a problem? :/

Luv007

#285
Ravv, so long as you pass on leadership for your temporary leave, no problem at all! :)

And customs will be open after 'the experiment', both as prizes and for some SG as I have NONE.  Lol.  I wanted to just give out some basic premades, nothing special while we do this.  I plan for everyone who has participated in 5 or more events (RP, Breeding, Jobs, and Daily Contests included) to get a full custom, or a cyo at the end of all this figuring out the rules.  I have a terrible fear of disappointing people, so I always have a hard time doing full customs.  I worry they won't be up to standards.  But rest assured, your devotion to Shara and this thread will be rewarded.  Hopefully soon... I want to get things set and start opening them up to more.

So you would have interest in "designing a Fable".... I'd really like to make that a big thing, possibly even allowing lineart edits if I can figure that out.

Running last night's contest was SO easy.  I really like the way it is set up now.

Agree or Disagree and why?

Luv007

#287
Because I've noticed some lack of interest, I thought I would give some motivation towards participation again.  I've developed a point system.  For every RB/Stud or breeding of any type that your Fable participates in, you get a point.  For any contest you or your Fable participate in, you get a point.  For every job your Fable does, you get a point.  Here is what I add it up to at this point:

Evanesct Howling-0 points

red_uni387-3 points

springacres-1 points

Goddess-4 points

Pinkshadow-7 points

Neocidders- 4 points

CrystalAngelNeko-4 points

BabyKittenCandy-5 points

Kahlira-15 points

Ravvana-15 points

Ryuukokoro-7 points

Spixy-3 points

Wildfilly94-9 points

This is kind of like a ladder.  If you get one point, you keep your fable.  If you get five points, you keep your Fable, and get a semicustom.  If you get twenty points, you keep your Fable, get a Semi Custom, get two full customs, and get two grid squares to claim for you herd.

1 point- Keep your experimental Fable and everything you have won
5 points-Semicustom
10 points-Full Custom
15 points-Grid Square for your herd
20 points-Full Custom and Grid Square

*some people may need to point other people towards this thread*

Kahlira

Luv007

Yup and you have the potiental of getting more... Everyone on the list has the oppurtunity to get at least five more points just by entering contests/breeding.

And for gifting.  The gifter will recieve a point for gifting things/Fables as well.  I forgot to mention that.

Kahlira

Contests, yeah, I need to enter those >.<

Luv007

Take your time.  You have all week.  Only one gets run per day.

We'll be running out of squares soon and I have a bigger grid that we'll move onto.

I'm working on making it possible to "battle" for a piece of land... But I'm having trouble finding a good concept.

Once a full grid has been claimed, we're going to call it full, and take the stamina/strength points down, and write down how many squares a herd had the potential to build on.  But once it is full, it's over.

Luv007

Kah, you did great.  I can always see into your Fables when you RP or post something for them!

Luv007

And that brings you up to 15 points!

Kahlira

Holy snap! XD

I do try to let others see them how I do.

But Ashke though, poor baby hasn't been found by juli yet, so nothing on her. (She's a foundling, poor kid, doesn't know anything about her mother or parents, or even why she was put where she was. Poor Juli gonna have a baby and not even know it. And she and HB will team up to raise both abby and Ashke together)

Luv007

Excellent plan.  I love how your Fables fall into each other's lives.

Luv007

Good job, Wildfilly!  I updated your points!

Wildfilly94

#297
Yeay!! Ohh, and where exactly do we post the updates of what our Fables did for their jobs that week??

EDIT: Does this also mean I get a semi-custom?? Im trying to understand this ladder thing. XD Lol.

Kahlira

There's a thing int he notary offices about posting for what job your Fable does.

I've not posted yet, since I need to think and it's turned wayy to hot to think (108 heat index. Ozone action day. I want to melt)

Luv007

Give me the next 24 hours and I will have a way for you to "use" your job.  I keep playing with the idea....  It's very frustrating.  I can't tweak it the right way.  I want it uncomplicated and quick, but I don't want it so easy that you're gaining things for doing next to no work...  Does that make sense?
