If I have missed deadlines or whatever I do apologize...I have a very good reason.  This may sound like a sympathy ploy but I assure you it is not and that all these events have occurred this week.  I am home now resting and trying to become normal (well as close as Sculli can be).

First and most importantly my father suffered cardiac arrest last monday, October 11th.  He had beend coded for about 10-15 minutes before he was resuscitated and transported to the hospital in Traverse City Michigan.  He suffered  from an arithmia that caused his heart to slow down...and eventually stop.  Once he was stable and awake, his memory began to lapse and he couldn't remember people places or things happening moment to moment.  Memory loss is normal but there was an element of dementia that had set in that was a little unusual for a case like this.

This happened in Michigan...I live in Florida, so obviously I jumped the first plane to MI to be with my family.  I rented a car and drove right to the hospital.  After a few hours and a doctor consultation I went to a hotel, because the hospitality house was full, to try and sleep.  The next morning...

I hit a deer with the rental car in downtown Traverse City totaling a $54,000 dollar vehicle  I was alright but my nerves are not.  I hate hurting any animal and the doe I hit was a full adult whitetail, and although I didnt break her legs I fear I broke her ribs as she was bleeding out of her mouth after she spun around on the highway and layed there for a few minutes.  She did get up and run off but I felt sick about it and still do.

Dad went in and had a pace maker/defib unit put in after having coded again in the hospital, with all the blood thinners his surgery sight was not healing right and he kept bleeding...for three days...his bruising was unlike any bruising I have ever seen, but his memory began to improve and color returned to his face.  All his docotors said that 90% of the patients who come in with conditions like my dad do not walk out of there alive.

I am incredably greatful to have a father today.  I cannot stress enough how greatful I am...Although he is now back to being a grumpy old coot I think he is greatful as well.

So as you can see I have been a bit distracted this week and I apologize for any missed deadlines or what have you...my mind has been else where.

Thank you for listening.

*hugs Sculli* I'm so glad he's ok and so are you x_x I was just up in NY, those deer are DANGEROUS. I'm glad the only thing that got totaled was the car :\ I hate hitting animals (unless they're those freaking huge locusts/grasshoppers we get down here, but when a bug's so big I can SEE it from a quarter mile away... ), Hopefully the deer will be ok, they're pretty tough animals from what I hear x_x
