I got two gypsy vanner foals and a friesian foal this season. Unfortunatley only the friesian came out as i wanted, the other two came out chesnut  :( So i'm definately trading them.

First one is just like her mum, so i'll probably trade her. The second one is chesnut so i'm definately trading him. I bred two brown silver dapples together in the hope for a brown silver dapple, so i'm really disappointed. But i guess you only get lucky sometimes. (sorry about the mini rant, lol)
I love my friesian foal, so probably won't trade him. However, i may trade him if i can find a female friesian with markings.

QuoteWinged dreams 10 x 288 - 523. Gypsy Vanner F Flaxen Chestnut Tobiano, front right Pastern, front left Pastern, back right Sock, back left Stocking (Generally willing, but rather excitable, a mover)

Winged dreams 183 x 73 - 524. Gypsy Vanner M Chestnut, front right Fetlock, back left Pastern, Star and Snip (Generally willing, but occasionally nervous, a mover)

Winged dreams * x 314 - 525. Friesian M Black, front right Coronet, back left Pastern, Lip Marking (Calm and sweet, a mover)

I'm looking for:
~ Quinsta, foals or adults. -Gypsy vanners, silver dapple brown especially. I'll also look at black, any silver dapple, bays and browns. Pretty much anything but chesnut, lol. I'm also not that fond of tobiano, especially black. - Or friesians, female with markings.
~ PU -Yeva, preferanly natural colours
~ Feli, wanting my first. - natural colours preferably but don't really mind.
~ Kennel dogs - Elkhounds, GSD, poss Irish Wolfhounds and Minature Pinschers
~ i'll look at other adopties too.

I'm wanting to put in a claim for one vanner and one friesian, so i'll definately trade one quin for something other than another foal.

Offers i'm thinking about:
Vanner F- TheLeet, Feli Sold
Vanner M-
Friesian-

Aww, sorry Mil'poken didn't pass his dabbles! He didn't pass it to the other breeding of his either. :(

Thanks :) It's odd that chesnut came out, since the mother was also silver dapple brown. Hmm... you think the chesnut came from him or the mother?

Actually, both parents had to carrying chestnut for the foal to be chestnut, it's just how breeding works. Each parent contributes one half to the full whole.

If you're curious, I know Mil'pokum's mother Grace carries chestnut (since she's Persephone's mother and palomino is cream-modified-chestnut) and his mystery father may very well have been a chestnut himself. As for Elmenda, her mother was chestnut Russariel, which explains why Elmenda carries chestnut. =)

I'm not perfect with genes just yet but I thiiiink to get chestnut, since it's recessive, both parents would have to have the gene "Ee" and they both passed on the 'e' to the baby, rather than the 'E'.

Each parent gives one of the two letters to the baby. If they each gave 'E' the baby would be black (EE). If one gave 'E' and one gave 'e' it would still be black (Ee). Only if both parents gave 'e' would the baby be chestnut (ee).

So it came from both parents, it was a very small chance of it happening (25%).

Edit: Keilin beat me to it lol. The interesting thing about this breeding is that it proves both Mil'poken and Elmenda carry the chestnut gene.

Thanks for the help! I understand about recessive and that part of genetics at least, from standard grade biology* that i did last year. But i only know general stuff, not anything spesific to horses really. I'll read up on it for next season though :)
So i got the small chance that i didn't want, haha. Ironic since ususally the small chance is the one you want!

* That probably won't mean much to anyone who doesn't know the scottish exams, can anyone help translate that into something most people would understand? I've no idea what leval that would be in the american system.

Actually, if you'd like to study the genetic tables that the Stable and Quinsta both use, here's the link:

http://stable.colbyforkicks.com/genetics.html

From my understanding, some of the genes represented were simplified (such as the interactions between the various pinto/paint patterns), but it's all pretty close to real life for the most part. =)

I've sold my female to TheLeet, for a feli semi custom :) Still looking to trade the nale for another foal!
