The Herd

Heading out to the back right paddock, I quickly located the lead mare. She was a beautiful brown with three white socks and a star and snip. Climbing over the gate, I hid a halter behind my back and offered her a handful of horse treats.

*Now then, since youve got your lead mare, id suggest grabbing another member of the herd and using a bridle to ride with. Trying to do this with just your person would be nearly impossible*

As the mare approached, I quickly slipped the halter over her head and held on tight to the lead rope. One of the foals ambled toward me, a vivid pink and white one, and I slipped a halter over it's head as well. Slip-knot tying the two to the fence, I grabbed one more horse, a pink mare with black spots, and mounted the lead mare, holding the lead rope of the mare in one hand. The foal I left with the halter on, but I untethered it and took the lead rope with me so it was one less to halter to put on later.

The mare ambled happily along, and so I nudged her into a trot and we reached the front paddock fairly quickly. Dismounting, I turned the two loose and took the halters back up to my pasture to bring down another two.
