Farallon Dragons

Farallon dragons are native to regions of mountainous terrain, though many also seek shelter in huge canyons and cliffsides. They are almost never capable of flight, and instead rely on their wings to buffer their descent as they leap down to lower areas of the mountain. Because of their sure-footedness, they are very popular as pack animals and mounts. Their intelligence and friendliness make them easy enough to keep, though they will refuse to stay with a human that abuses them.

Though they cannot speak, their reasoning skills are quite sharp, and they can learn to recognize nearly 1,000 human words. They are omnivorous and incredibly resourceful. Their quick wit is only surpassed by their loyalty to a kind owner. Even though they must be turned out into the wild during the breeding season, they will always return home.

Farallon dragons can be almost any color, with almost every pattern imaginable, though it usually leans more toward natural patterning such as dappling and stripes. Skin tends to be either somewhat lighter or darker than the actual fur coloring, and scales tend to be a different color entirely and leaning more toward neutral and earthy colors. Of course, there is always the exception. Both males and females have horns and tentacles, though there are variations without horns. Lack of fur, tentacles, scales or feathers is considered an extreme mutation, and many breeders are wary of creating such creatures. Then again... there are always people who want to breed the next designer dragon!


Stats
Stats can be inborn, or trained. Trained and magically enhanced stats are able to be passed on to offspring, so genetics have no direct effect on stats.  Genetics are rudimentary and simple for the time being as I feel my way through the system. Color and a few other factors are left open to my artistic discretion though there will be at least some rhyme and reason to color inheritance.

Stats are currently set up as a bonus system. A number isn't given but instead a bonus amount that acts as a modifier added to a die roll. Stats will show up in this way:

Health: +0
Strength: +4
Speed: +1
Stamina:+0
Agility: +0
Intelligence: +0

Most custom and raffle dragons will be given 5 mod points to allocate into where the owner wishes them to be. Offspring will generally have stats to reflect their gender and the parents.

The Genders and other Terminology
Drake: Male
Queen: Female
Nymph: The third gender.
Drakling: Young Farallon still under the care of the mother.
Penny: Maiden Queen/ Farallon female below breeding age
Tyke: Young Drake below breeding age.

Breeding

Breeding takes place by unleashing all breeding animals out into the wild, which is where they court and take their mates. Both males and females will breed with several suitors, which causes females to carry offspring from various mates. Males who can monopolize the females will sire more offspring. Scheduled breedings are possible, and a mate can be chosen for a single breeding at no extra cost (Aside from normal breeding cost) And will guarantee one Drakling sired by that father. Beware when breeding for several recessive traits; they may have adverse effects on the young and the Drakling may be stillborn and still count as your guaranteed drakling from that sire! There are several items that will become available during the breeding season that will greatly increase the siring success of your male.

The Third Gender
This is a rare creature that breeders only dream about. This creature is technically hermaphroditic, and capable of full fledged flight. This androgynous creature will collect genetic data from two other Farallon and combine it into a litter. This opens up new possibilities for combining rare traits, and guarantees the parentage as this rare dragon will always breed with the two requested dragons! Because of its unique nature, this also means it can combine genetic material from two males or two females! This is thought to be an evolutionary mutation that allowed for the species to maintain a population even when the males and females were too far apart to find each other for the mating season. (which was prone to happening in ancient history when magic was still volatile and often changed the shape of the world right from under people's feet!)

These are minted out of a strange, gleaming metal. 1-5 of these will be awarded for adoption bribes.

Magic Stone Stock: 2  Cost: 10 Tokens
Wow.. what a beautiful stone! It glistens in the sunlight. I wonder what it would do to your dragon if you gave it to them?

Fertility Root Stock: 2  Cost: 3 Tokens
Good for one breeding. This increases the amount of offspring in your breeding by two, and guarantees at least three live offspring.

Love Potion Stock: 2  Cost: 2 Tokens
Use this potion on a dragon pair. This will guarantee that at least two (if there are that many) offspring will be from that father.

"Bind me to you" Love Collars Stock:2  Cost: 5 Tokens
These collars bind a male and female together for an entire breeding season. The male will be unable to mate with any other females, and all of the children will be from that father.

*You may NOT sell for USD under any circumstance.
*Current owner, and owner-to-be must both send me a private message telling me of the trade So I may update my records

Rules of Baby Ownership
*The purchaser of the breeding gets first pick of the baby. If it is a free breeding, first pick is rolled at random. Both parties must inform me of the decision of ownership so I may update my records.
Arranged/Paid Breedings: The buyer of the item/breeding must find a Queen/Drake (And possibly a nymph, if it's Queen to Queen or Drake to Drake breeding.) And broodfees are to be decided amongst one another.
Free Breedings: The Person who posts the breeding has rights to all offspring unless otherwise decided between those involved. If using a stud, dam, or nymph someone else owns, write permissions in notary and have all parties agree to it and provide this as proof at time of breeding.
Flock Breedings: Everyone gets at least one offspring for participating. The offspring may not actually be related to your Farallon. All extra offspring will be used in events or sent out into the wild.
