Care Post
Horse: Melody
Care: I stay with Melody & talk softly to her while the vet tends to the parasites reassuring her that everything will be alright. After he is done I offer her an apple and stroke her gentlly for awhile, I tell her about Sparkle & how they can become good friends. When I go to my truck to leave I call the vet on my cell & let her know her services will be needed again. She tells me to let her know when Melody is in her new home so that she can come out to give her a thorough check up & give her her immunizations & deworming. I head home after to be with Sparkle for awhile & let her know she has a new friend coming. I hope she won't get jealous.

Care Post
Horse: Sean
Care: Sean looked like he was tired of staying cooped up in his stall, so I slipped on his halter and took him on a walk. He enjoyed himself, and he even found a nice patch of mud to roll around in. Of course, as a result, I had to do some heavy-duty grooming when we got back to the barn. He didn't much like getting sprayed off with the hose, but definitely enjoyed being curried and brushed.

Care Post
Horse: Sean
Care: Sean had a slight limp this morning, so I called the vet out immediately. It turned out to only be a slight stone bruise in the right front hoof -- the vet has always said that Sean has especially thin soles. The vet treated the stone bruise and put Sean on stall rest for the remainder of the day, but says that he should be feeling better as soon as tomorrow. Sean was not very happy about getting cooped up in his stall, so I soothed him with some banana, his favorite treat :)

Horse: Myst
Care: She came home today to meet with the rest of the herd. Her paddock was rather secluded, but well fenced so she couldn't nibble or jump her way out. Loading her into the trailer was terrible, whoever had her before must have not trained her properly. We had to spend several hours tempting her with treats before she would walk up the ramp enough to where we could shut the door. Once back at home, she refused to come out! I went inside and talked to her softly for quite a while, gently pushing forward under she bagan to move. Finally she got settled into her new home, and raced around the paddock several timesbefore rolling in the grass.

do the care posts have to be in green? just curious, cause everyone else makes theirs green xD

Care Post
Horse: Hummer
Care:  Today I went to try Hummer with the saddle, just to see how comfortable he was with it.  So I tied him up for our security first.  Then I brushed him to remove any dirt that could cause any discomfort and cleaned his hooves.  Then I took the brand new blanket I bought for him and showed it to him so he would know what was going on his back.  I did the same with the saddle.  He seemed mostly curious, trying to nibble on it.  So I gently put the saddle on his back, while making sure he was still relaxed.  He didn't seem to mind it, so I went ahead and finished what I was doing.  We then went outside to take a few steps and we walked around for a good hour, to give him a chance at knowing his surroundings.   He seemed very comfortable with the saddle on, which made me believe he had been ridden before, so I could surely try to ride him soon.

indigowulf

No, posts dont have to be in green. Hello Leafpool, welcome to Secundi :)

Sorry I havent been active for a couple days, not feeling my peak as I try to cut soda out of my life.

red_uni387

awesome~

*squishes* I wish you good luck with that, I'm already finding it hard ignoring the one can I usually drink x_x

Leafpool

D'aww, thank you wulf!  :D  Secundi is awesome but still pretty confusing.  :S

I'm not a soda addict, but definitely a sugar addict.  Although, if I see soda in a shop somewhere, most likely I'll buy it, just because sometimes I get tired of apple juice(I don't drink water).  Good luck with that!  xD

springacres

Eee, tis a Leafy!  *noms and adds to MSN*

Leafpool

Squee!  <3  Hiya spring!

*gnaws back*

xD

Speaking of the vet, I should try and get a horse.  :O  These are so awesome!

Care Post
Horse: Sean
Care: The farrier came today to trim Sean's hooves, and I decided to splurge on refitting his front hooves with special padded shoes. Hopefully, they will help prevent against any more bruising. Sean was very patient with the farrier, although he did seem relieved when the ordeal was over and he was able to go to turn-out in the big paddock.

Care Post
Horse: Sean
Care: I decided to give Sean a bit more of a workout today. I groomed him and tacked up him after he had his breakfast; he continues to accept the bit with almost too much enthusiasm. Then I took him out to the indoor arena and did some work over a 2'6" course. He was a perfect gentleman, even when a deer started grazing right outside the arena. He seems to have enjoyed the phsyical activity almost as much as he enjoyed the apple he got when he was done ;)

indigowulf

I do believe I am caught up now. I need to make some pre-mades for flatsales, then we will open trading season, following that will be breeding season :)

quyllur

I don't like to be a pest, but may I ask if my horsies are coming soon?

Care Post
Horse: Kyouki
Care:  Today I had the horse dentist as I like to call him come and float Kyouki's teeth.  It seems like they were getting a bit too long and it was decided it needed fixing right away.  Kyouki's been a good girl through the whole process, but seemed quite happy when it was over.

quyllur

Care Post
Horse: Farina
Once I get Farina home I call the vet to get his opinion on an appropriate feed regimen in order to bring her wait up.  He advises a hi-fat feed, flax, and canola oil, in addition to an additional flake of hay per feeding, and to build up her meals gradually so as to avoid colic or other illnesses.

indigowulf

Sorry quyllur, I read the PM then went to bed that night and forgot :( We need a way to mark messages unread even if we read them, so we have that nagging number up there reminding us! Ill get right on them, try to have them done by tomorrow at the latest

quyllur

Its cool indigo, I didn't realize until springacres pointed them out to me that 3 are already done.  And they're lovely!

3 orphaned foals were left behind after the last big round up. In the chaos and confusion, they were seperated from thier mothers, and now the workers can't sort through the horses to find the matches. So, they are looking for someone to take them home.

This will be a "bribe indigo" type event. Real bribes. Whatever the bribe is, you are "making room" for the new foal by sending that bribe to me instead :P

So, here they are, including codenames:

Codename: Split
listed as a black paint

Codename: Silver
listed as a dapple grey

Codename: Belle
listed as a blue roan paint

Mini Marathon!

The Ranch workers just got a huge group of mini's in. It seems someone was breeding them in very poor conditions to profit off babies, rather like a puppy mill. A neighbor called it in and they were shut down.

The entire group seems fearful of human contact. 3 different vets have volenteered thier time to come look after them. Thier time is free, but the materials and medicines aren't. For the price of the vet care and a small processing fee, you can adopt one of these poor horses!

Limit is 2 per person please. Each has a flat fee of 150K. You have 24 hours to make your payment or they get put back up for adoption. Here is the adoption form:

I found a website with a nice thing on horse colors. I revamped thier graphic a bit to include genetics for each and remove some that TRHR doesnt use. Here's the final product. Please keep in mind that there are some differences between us and the Stable, dont let it confuse you!

I decided to remove champange and pearl, as the differences between them and cream can be so minor it's not worth having 3 sets of genes for it.

Credit where it's due, here is where I got it from:

quyllur- yes. this is from my website, links at the bottom.
Anything in red are the recessive expressed genes.

(edited this to make corrections. I had different info cut and paste on website then the real notations I was using for each individual horse, cuz I was tired and being lazy the night I did that part of the website.)

Quote
For the most part, we follow the Sponenberg notations

A = restricts black to points (bay)
a=uniform brown/black over entire body
B=Black
b=brown
c/c=non-dilute, fully expressed
C/c=single dilution
C/C double dilute
D=dun dilution; D dilutes both black and red base colors
d=non-dilute, or no dun
E=dominant Black
e=red
F=red points on ee horses
f=flaxen points on ee horses

P= pangare
p=non-pangare
Z=Silver Dapples: dilutes black to silver dapples; dilutes bay and brown to mimic sorrel; dilutes buckskin to appear near-palomino
z=no Z dilution
G=grey
g=no grey
R=Roan
r=non-roan
T=Tobiano (pinto spotting)
t=non-Tobiano, not spotted
O/O lethal!!
O/o= overo spotted (frame only)
o/o= not spotted
Sb=Sabino spotting
sb=non-Sabino
spl=non-splashed White
Spl=Splashed White
L=Leopard (appaloosa complex)
l=no leopard complex
W/W = lethal!!
W/w=White
w/w=not white

genetics we've skipped:

Br = Brindle (br = no brindle)
Rb = Rabicano (rb = not rabicano)
-Sty = Sooty/Smutty (-sty = no sootiness)
Ch = champagne
Prl = pearl both Ch and Prl are too hard to distinguish visually from cream on a small graphic.
