[Miniwyvs]

Ice sparkles and crunches underfoot, though it is not slippery. The air is crisp, but it doesn't have the unpleasant bite that some winter days can carry. There is birdsong, and colorful cardinals and bluejays flit from branch to branch. Evergreens line the path upon which you walk, each one adorned with shining glass balls in green and red, silver and gold, white and pale blue. Small lights twinkle from within the pine needles, not overly visible during the day, but probably quite enchanting at night.

All in all, a pleasant winter day, and up ahead, the sounds of chatter and music.

Upon reaching the end of the path, the pine trees open up into an open area with a large pond at the center of things. There are stalls around it, some offering food and cocoa and mulled cider, others showing off wares, and some seem to have games and such. There is a bonfire cheerfully crackling at the center of things, with chestnuts and the makings  All around, Miniwyvs flit through the air, chasing snowflakes and weaving around the banners hung festively all around.

The Great Ice Relay

The biggest booth is located closest to the pond, and is more of a grand open-sided tent. Benches face the frozen pond, upon which markers have been placed to form a looping path. Inside the tent are rows of ice skates. There's a stack of gift boxes as well, all with fancy wrapping.

"Are you here to sign up?" Saturn pops out from behind the stack of gifts. "You really should. It'll be fun! I promise!"

Here's how it works:

Sign-Ups start now. There is no ending point; as many people can join as want to up until Christmas. There will be many races!

Once at least 5 people have signed up, the first race will begin.

Everyone stands at the center of the pond (with ice skates, of course). Saturn will blow a whistle and hand someone a present, and that person must skate out onto the track and begin following the path around the pond. At a moment of their choosing, they must yell out the name of another participant, who will skate out, grab the present, and continue, and then they call the name of someone else from the list, and so on.

At an unknown point of time, Saturn will blow the whistle again, signaling the end of that race. The present will be opened.

There's a catch, though, to keep people from just holding onto the gift-- each present has a hidden set of different 'rules' attached. So, say, Person A passes to B who passes to C, who passes it to D and the whistle is called. Person D holds the present, but upon opening it, it's found to contain the rule, "Gift goes to person two turns prior" and the gift would be kept by person B.

(Gifts do not necessarily match their giftbox.)

Ahh, a warm beverage on a cold day! Nothing better, right? You approach the booth, seeing that it's manned (womanned?) by a familiar face; Shaydra the cat-person.

"Ello," she greets cheerfully. "Fancy a nice drink? You've come to the right place." She gestures to the counter set up in front of her, with pots of bubbly-warm cocoa and cider, and a whole slew of toppings.

"Pick your drink, and anything you want to put in it. Some toppings are better suited to one or the other, but I'm not going to stop you if you want to put marshmallows and mint syrup into your apple cider. Oh, and each drink comes with a Miniwyv. I know, weird gimmick." She shrugs, her dark leopard-tail flicking in amusement.

The Wyv-A-Pult

A strange sight greets you off to one side. Constructed of wood, there is what looks to be a catapult. As you watch, a Miniwyv gleefully nestles itself into the cupped flingy part. Another wyv near the bottom smacks a peg with its tail, knocking it out of position and releasing the catapult's arm. The 'wyv in the bucket goes sailing into the air, not bothering to use its wings as it flies into the sky. As it vanishes out of sight, you can still hear the faint "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" noise that it's making.

You blink, not quite certain about what you're watching here, as the catapult is aimed in a different direction and the process is repeated.

A girl at a little booth off to one side is watching you. She's got dark grey-blue skin and red-tinged eyes, pointed elf ears, and a very put-out expression on her face.

"I don't know how I got roped into this," she comments as soon as she notices you watching her. "But do you want to fling a Miniwyv at a friend?"

Her festive name tag-- very at odds with her rather humbug expression-- says Neska, and in front of her are lists and addresses, with latitude and longitude coordinates next to each.

"You can send up to three gift-wyvs to your friends. Just tell me where they're going, and we'll fling the wyv at whoever it is you'd like to gift. The first gift is free to send, but there's a charge of 10,000sg for each of the other two."

Some notes to remember:

-People are still welcome to sign up! This is ongoing!
-There will be multiple races!
-The end of the race is unknown... you'll just have to keep going until Saturn blows the whistle to stop!
-You CAN choose to pass the gift back to someone who has already had it!
-Please only pass the gift to people on the Participants list, so we don't get a very confused person going "whaaaa?"
-If the person you pass to wants pings, feel free to ping them on Discord if I don't get to it in time!
