Billions of years ago, Earth was covered with all kinds of wildlife, and man had not been introduced yet. The animals thrived, and natural selection worked at its best to bring on the rise and fall of various species. After many years, however, hundreds--no, thousands--of species were wiped out, and the remaining wildlife grew fearful of what had been introduced to Earth: humans. Then, one day, a large black wolf accidentally found a portal to another world.


So it begins...
The wind was blowing frantically, and it kept whipping my hair into my eyes as I walked along the long dirt path back to my house. I didn't know what was going on at first. One minute it was just me, hurrying along as fast as I possibly could, and the next I was stopped dead in my tracks by a huge furry beast.

I'd heard about portals before. Where creatures from other worlds pass over into our own. But I'd never seen it happen right before my eyes.

Before me stood a large black wolf. At least, I think it was a wolf. It's hard to tell exactly what something is that passes through a portal. Not only can the portals give an animal extra abilities, but they also lead to many, many different worlds. Her golden eyes seemed to peer into my soul, and I felt a tingling in my head.

Excuse me, but could you tell me where I am?

I was shocked. A wolf had just spoken to my mind! Okay, this was a little strange. But this world is filled with strange. I remembered what I'd been taught, to show foreign creatures that they were welcome here, in our world. I smiled and replied, "Welcome to the world of Secundi. My name is River. I am pleased to make your acquaintance." The wolf lowered her head, as if bowing, or showing respect.

Thank you. If I might ask, do you have living quarters for me and my companions?

Companions? I don't see any companions, I thought. Then I tore my eyes away from the animal's gaze, and realized that there were more. Many more. Perhaps too many. Where on earth are we going to keep all of them?! The thought quickly vanished. I knew what I had to do. It was time to call some of my friends, who live in the heart of Secundi.

I realize I have not been around much lately and so I want to make it up to you guys. So, instead of just doing comps this month, I will also be running a Christmas thread. This thread will consist of two events. The main event, which will be open for entrants starting as soon as I post, will be a White Elephant game. You can find the rules for it in the post below this one. The second event is a smaller one, and one that I will need a little more time to set up. It's a matching game. I will explain it in the post for that game.
I have picked games for this month that shouldn't be too time consuming for me and my ever busy schedule at work. It does require me (and you guys as well) to check the thread fairly often otherwise the game could go on for a very long time ._. But hopefully that shouldn't be an issue. And honestly I won't freak out if this thread goes on past Christmas, I know everyone's busy, especially this time of year.

Let's kick off the holiday season with a white elephant game!


Signing Up
- I will be accepting entries for two weeks. December 10th will be the very last day to post your gift. The game will start on the 11th.
- Grab the pinned gift box file from discord. If you are not a part of the discord server OR you are simply not on discord at all, you can PM me either on here or in personal message on discord, and I will get the file to you that way.
- Color your gift. Be as creative or as simple as you want. When you are done coloring,
- Post the gift in this thread, using this form:

Playing the Game
- After sign ups have closed, I will use random.org to determine the order in which the players get to pick their gifts. I will have colored a THS to go with each of the presents.
- With each person's turn, they will have the option to open a new gift, or steal one that has already been opened by another person.
- If you choose to steal, you must tell which gift you are stealing, and roll a 1d10. If you roll an 8 or higher, you have successfully stolen the gift. If you roll a 7 or lower, your steal was unsuccessful and you must pick a new gift to open.
- If someone steals your gift, you will get to have another turn, after everyone else has gone. (so, your name goes to the end of the list).
- Once the last gift has been opened, the game will end and everyone's gifts will go into their folders.

This next game that I have for you all, I had actually planned to use for the November event thread, but I ended up being way too busy this month so I saved it for this thread instead. It's a matching game--with a twist! You have to match the song to the THS.
If you correctly make a match, you get to take that THS home. Here we go...


The Rules
- Below are a list of THS and another list, of songs. Your job is to match the THS with the song I used to make it.
- You may try to guess once every 6 hours.
- Once you make a correct guess, you get to take that THS home with you (I will put it in your folder).
- After you have won, please allow 48 hours before guessing again, to give others a good chance at getting some correct as well.
- Gifting is not required, but it is always appreciated ^.^
