Icey was first drawn out by sunflower seeds, and they have continued to provide the path to his heart.  He will run and hide from strangers, unless they offer him his favorite treat.  Once sunflower seeds are in view, the person offering them quickly become his "best friend."  Once you are established as a "dispenser of sunflower seeds" then Icey will remain affectionate towards you, even in subsequent visits.  We have discovered that Icey also enjoys berries as treats, but prefers they be frozen.  Once a berry is thawed out he loses interest.  Icey continues to prefer human winter-wear as his sleeping place, with a preference for gloves, although hats, scarves or even a coat will do in a pinch.  In his relations with other surfers, Icey is neither top dog nor bottom of the pack.  He won't stand for being pushed around overly much (especially when it comes to his beloved sunflower seeds) but is not bossy enough to order others around either.

Ashley is a sweet but shy little girl.  She has a great deal of energy and loves high places.  Her favorite spots are the tops of trees, especially our ash trees where she spends the majority of her time, and for which she was named.  She can often be seen among the high branches, chasing down small insects to eat.  Ants, beetles and flies seem to make up the majority of her diet.  The one thing that's sure to tempt Ashley down out of the trees is ice cream, particularly strawberry ice cream with chunks of fruit on top.

Speckle is the clear boss of our group of surfers.  He's into everyone's business.  Speckle spends lots of his day hunting down the other surfers to give them "lectures" on their grooming or eating habits.  Speckle is also a cuddle-bug.  When he's not bossing around the others, he likes to find a human and hang out on their shoulder.  Unlike Icey or Ashley, Speckle does not like cold treats.  Instead he loves his food cooked and nicely warm.  He enjoys cooked meat (preferably from a human's dinner plate), toasted seeds, and his favorite, toast with a bit of berry jam on top.

OK, I'll extend entries for breeding until tomorrow, say.. 17:00 Secundi time.  That way anyone who wanted to enter and needs more time, or wants to enter a Surfer they just won, will be able to get the entries posted.  I won't extend it any later because there is a bit I need to do yet to sort out which Surfers successfully breed, and breeding results etc; and I want to try and have this done with before my birthday

Surfer Information:Quiet Thunder has only been with me for a few days. We are still trying to get to know each other. She sits on my shoulder when I'm sitting out on the bench near the garden. She seems to watch everything that moves. Kind of like a guard dog that is watching it's home. All quiet & just watching & waiting. Just the other day, while sitting outside with her she lept from my shoulder & was halfway across the yard in meere seconds. I jumped up to see what was going on & it seems she saw a baby bird fall from a tree. It was to late to save it by the time I got to it. Quiet Thunder had devoured all of it but it's little feet. Poor birdie. I guess my little lady likes her meat fresh.

Surfer Information:Ailin likes dandelions. Plain & simple, he likes to roll around on top of them, eat them, he even floats them in his water dish. I have yet to figure out his attraction to them. But he gets a bit testy when someone tries to take them from him. Enya was being her usual mischievous self one day & decided to swipe the dandelions from Ailin's water. He attacked her full force until she dropped them & ran away. Needless to say, she hasn't messed with his dandelions anymore. She still torments him at times, but she leaves his precious flower/weeds alone.

Surfer Information: Carly is a spoiled little surfer who likes to get her way. She throws a tantrum when you try telling her no, but I still attempt to sometimes. The other surfers let her lead, although she seems to listen to Tristan. Or at least, I think she does, because he is the only one whose sleeping spot she hasn't tried to hijack. Contrary to her spoiled ways, she is very social and does not like to play by herself. Carly is very spontaneous and tends to get into all sorts of trouble, sometimes dragging her surfer friends along with her. Her favorite food is cake! Lots and lots of it!

Surfer Information: Tess is an entertainer! She is always looking to grab everyone's attention and amuse them. She moves around in an odd way, like she is always dancing, and she makes the cutest sounds all the time. I've seen Tess attempt to juggle using her front paws and tail, but she's not very succesful yet haha. She also loves playing fetch and she can jump very high! I've never seen someone, human, surfer or otherwise who didn't love her ways. Tess loves the taste of cinnamon and will only eat cinnamon flavored food, prefering simple cinnamon sticks above all.

Surfer Information: Lana is a very sneaky surfer. She prefers to be by herself, is mostly seen after dark and loves playing pranks on other surfers. Her favorite place to sleep is hiding under the couch. If you bug her when she wants to be left alone she will growl at you quite impressively. Nonetheless, she won't harm you and really is all bark and no bite. Just not the most social surfer in the bunch, but I don't mind much. She still seeks me out occassionally and she's really sweet when our contact is on her terms. For example, she sometimes pops up beside me on the bed at night and snuggles up to me for a while. Lana is drawn to nature and ventures outside often. She is very skilled at climbing, I've found her on a neighbour's roof on more than one occassion! Her prefered diet consists of various plants and flowers, but she has to pick them herself and doesn't always stay inside my yard, so she's probably not everyone's favorite surfer on the block.

Surfer Information: Milo is a very easy going guy. He goes along with what everybody else wants, as long as whatever is being suggested isn't mean spirited because he's a big softie. He likes the beach, especially the sand there, and if he go too long without visiting it he'll just dig up the yard instead. Milo is very good with the youngsters and I think he'd love a family of his own. His diet mostly consist of shells. What is it with these critters and eating odd things?

Surfer Information: Rambo is a typical boy. He likes to play in the mud, likes to wrestle with other surfers and is often building things, dragging around twigs and blankets. His favorite food is steak, if he can't grab that he'll accept other types of meat. Defenitely no delicate fish or stupid healthy vegetables, that's no food for a tough guy! Rambo is a bit mischievous as well, and a bit of a hoarder. Don't leave something laying around that he might be interested in because he will snag it away and hide it somewhere! He is social with the other surfers, often found with one or more others, but it takes quite a bit of encouragement to get him to loosen up and join in playing any games. He only eats nuts, walnut being his absolute favorite food.

Surfer Information: Rolly is a very shy surfer. Easily scared by strangers, bright colors and loud noises it took quite a bit of time to earn his trust. His behavior has greatly improved, but he's still skittish by nature and wary of new things. He is social, but only with surfers who are kind and quiet, not the wild rambunctious ones. Rolly prefers to be fed a monotonous diet with not too many changes. The first thing I ever fed him was fish and now he shies away from most other food, so I've kept feeding him fish. Last week I was eating sushi and let him try a piece, now he seems very hungry for more of it and it's quickly becoming his favorite!

Surfer Information: Keanu is a very stubborn but fickle surfer which makes him a bit hard to handle most of the time. He knows very well what he wants, except he changes this very often, so it can be hard to keep him happy. Last week he decided he wanted lollipops, the week before that he only wanted cookies. Oddly, right now the only things he wants to eat are coffee beans, but who knows how long that lasts. The only thing that hasn't changed is his favorite toy, which is a basketball. However, he keeps changing in his mind whether he wants to share it or not. I think it's just part of him growing up and maturing and believe he'll figure out what he likes soon enough. It would be nice, because I have piles of previously favored food laying around that Keanu now refuses to eat..

Surfer Information: Don't let Haunted's name scare you off! She is not mean or scary, just misunderstood. She only eats bugs, catching them herself and really enjoys the hunt. Her sleeping place is a little burrow in my yard that she has dug herself. Haunted has trouble producing high sounds, so when she communicates it often sounds a bit like a growl. Those things combined with her dark coloration has scared off a lot of surfers, so she's a little sad and lonely. Poor little Haunted!
