Suggestion - Chat room?

Maybe if Silv embedded a chat room or a sidebar chat into the site, we'd all have a quick means of communication. I don't know about everyone else, but I usually get caught up reading a thread and by the time the page gets refreshed I have a message that's a half-hour old >>

And it wouldn't require everyone to have a skype/yahoo/gmail/whatever.

I like the idea of a chatroom, mostly 'cause I don't even bother to sign into skype because I often have to leave randomly and without much notice and leaving it on when I'm not around just bothers me. XD

If we were worried about spam bots in the chat, it's possible to create chatrooms to only allow registered members to post.

It would be nice if we had one more like AAA rather than one on the side bar, where we can log in if we choose. I tend to use secundi from school a lot, where I can't be logged in to chat things/they are blocked if they are detected. But those that you have the option of logging in to without being directly on the page don't cause that issue.

And the subject was broached before guys, by me even I think, back closer to when Secundi was first created.  I know the answer was no then, and I've been trying to remember the reason, not sure, but I think it may have been something to do with difficulty of monitoring.  Not for bots necessarily, but like the mods do on the forums. If I am remembering right and this was the reason, then I'm not sure how to resolve it.

Doesn't mean I don;t still want a chat room however lol  But I guess if this was the reason, then we'd need to think of a good solution before it could be considered?

I used to go to another site, that was allowing little kids on it younger then 13.  They too had to deal with monitoring issues.  They dealt with it by locking their forums if there was no Mod on.  You could access and use the rest of the site to play the game and such, you just couldn't get onto the forums to post anything unless one of the mods responsible for supervising the forums was online.  They had multiple mods from each time zone though, so the forums were very rarely ever locked out.

I'm not sure how hard something like that would be to code though, or if it can even be used for a chat room or not.

Chatango is a free or paid (cheap) chat board that can be posted on forums but you can hire mods and put in censors and what not I use it for rp boards

Well, we all use skype and join.me and they aren't censored or have mods but we don't usually get too bad on those.

And I just made my Lyvanna account and noticed that you have to be 13 to sign up here so maybe some minor modding?

I'll think it over and discuss it with the other mods.   I can say for sure if we did include some sort of chat feature directly on Secundi, I would want something that keeps a log of what's said so the other admins & I could make sure that it wasn't used inappropriately.  I pretty much trust you guys to keep things good, but new people & spammers could become an issue.
