Where we're going....

I know it's difficult to sit here on a forum and wait for these components to slowly be coded and come online. So here's a brief run down of our master plan *cackles, coughs* ahem...

Secundi is an adoptable driven Pet Site. The main game will have many different adoptables, starting with a core set from the Council's own shops. Exactly what owners will be able to do with these pets is still being hashed out, but on the table are features such as: breeding, trading, training, competing, battling, etc.

There are also such ideas as: land ownership, an item store, crafting if you're more patient than just going to the store, many more games, quests, perhaps some level of 'persona' customization, etc.

The forum will always exist as it is now - the "Old World" marketplace for adoptable shops, roleplay, and artwork. It may grow a bit, but the basic forum you see now is the basic forum that will continue to exist. Even if you never want your adoptable to become part of the core game of Secundi, you can sell critters on our forum.

What was that? you say to the last sentence above. My adoptable can become part of the game? Yes, this is our ultimate, much time into the future goal. Once our core set of critters is working, we would like to expand Secundi to include other adoptables, the 'adaptation' of Old World adopties into Secundians. Since this process is so far off into the future, that much information is about as clear as you're going to get on the matter until we get further down our timeline.

This way, Secundi is always evolving and community driven, instead of the same few pets for years.

So that is why you see the 'pets' option on the main page, that is the core of the game. We're going to code it, test it, hammer out the details, and take our time to do it right. Hopefully you stick with us and have fun on the forum while we work.

- Adventure portion, site and/or adoptie specific
- Awards for competitions, as well as other awards

(Garney likes the idea of a personalized avatar portion of the site, but the amount of work scares her to death. So yes, it has been considered, but other things first.)

So here we are, almost four months old. We have an awesome userbase, a great community, and we may be slow to offer up new features because we run our own adoptables and other things that eat up our time, but we're doing it!

And there's a little rundown of the master plan, so you know where we are, roughly in our timeline.

We have no set in stone time prediction, there's just too many variables - Silv's life and tendency to break computers, will the server and host behave, how fast can we produce the art needed for all these little features - I did the cards for the game with Chem's ideas and help, and that was just a small thing, other things might require a lot more in depth art and coding.

But yes, forum and community is all here and will be here forever and ever I hope *hugs everyone*

Yeah, originally we'd wanted to get the entire site up and all beta-tested and whatnot before opening it to the public, but events on a certain other site caused us to open our doors early.  So, thanks everyone for your patience and understanding as the site goes through the throws of creation.  As Garney laid out, there's lots of exciting things in the works!    And, I guess all of you get to feel special, as you're our beta testers.  *lol*

I'd like to add that one somewhat large project that I'm going to be tackling right away is optimizing the site for performance.  This is going to affect nearly all portions of the site, but the place you'll probably most notice the difference is on the competitions page.  I've already done a couple things to it just now that have improved its speed considerably, but I've got a few more things to do it that will help it along even more.
