Horse Gene Help?

I rode this horse in a show a while back. I've never been able to figure out what his coloring is. He obviously has a bay base coat, but what about the random grey splotches? Some kind of appaloosa?

Huh, I almost want to say it's an odd expression of Sabino overo.  I'm not really an expert on strange expressions of the white patterns, though.  If you want to post the pics on a horse-specific forum and see what they say, I'd be interested to know their answer.

Yeah, those look like Birdcatcher spots to me too.

He doesn't look like he has any real appy characteristics.  I'd say either birdcatcher spots or some sort of skin issue/damage.  Hair will grow back white where the skin has been damaged.
