Quinsta Breeding Plans

So I thought it would be kinda neat to see everyone's breeding plans in one place.

I thought of some questions in help in thinking about your plans
Do you have a specific breeding goal that you are trying to achieve?
Do you specialize in one specific breed?
Do you want to start breeding a different breed?
Are you working to bring a specific gene to a different breed?



Personally, I would love to get a double cream appaloosa and I think that is going to be my personal goal that I will be working on. I breed mostly Arabs, but I would love to get more Gypsys and some fluffy ponies. And I am most definitely working to bring appy to all breeds, although that is going rather slow. XD

So I would love to see what everyone else is working on and what everyone specializes in!

Anyway, I am currently (just started this season) trying to get chestnut, dun and overo into Friesians.  I seem to end up breeding more Vanners than anything else, but I do have a few Arabs and am working on expanding my Clyde herd as well.

I also intend to spread the beauty that is tobiano around to all breeds, but that will probably come after I finish my Friesian project.

Chestnut might be a bit difficult to reinforce in Friesians, since it requires two copies of a recessive gene, and we're not sure if any Friesians carry recessive extension/chestnut yet. I've been breeding my Friesian boy with chestnut mares to see if he's Ee, but no luck so far. Still hoping though. XD

I know, but at least I can get an Ee baby since Quildohtar is flaxen red dun.  So it would at least be a start.

Very true, very true. I only worry it'll be difficult to reinforce and confirm said Ee status in later Grade generations, much less breed two freshly bred Friesians and receive that coveted ee extension foal, and I'm speaking as someone who really wants a palomino Friesian. Here's hoping that a few of our Friesians will prove to be recessive chestnut carriers. =)

Back to the original post though, I'm still organizing my project notes in a legible format. I'm also figuring out which projects of mine are super-secret (okay, not really XD) and which are actually worth posting. I have a ton of experimental ideas that probably don't really count as real projects.
