Well, i got four foals this season :) Anyone who knows about genetics, can you help me with two questions?
-My breeding between Grace (buckskin) and Glory's Sounding (bay splash overo) was aiming for a golden buckskin but got a silver dapple bay splash overo. Is she likely to carry her mum's buckskin, or what? I'm not very good with genetics for what they carry. Also, to help me decide, how rare/ special is silver dapple bay splash overo? I could only find one other silver dapple bay in vanners but i'm not sure.
-How good is my bay grade for bringing coats into friesians? She's a cross between a black friesian and a buckskin.

I'm giving these away to a good home now :) Priority is givn to non-owners, so if two people ask for one at the same time then the non-owner would get the foal. Otherwise first come-first serve.

Your bay will only help introduce a base coat color to Friesians. Black, bay, brown and chestnut are base colors (which is further divided as black, bay and brown being black based and chestnut being red based), so it does not really add interesting patterns (overo, tobiano, appaloosa) or modifiers (dun, roan, cream, silver dapple).

Silver dapple is a modifier that shows up on black, bay and brown. The foal does not 'carry' buckskin, that is not possible. Buckskin is single visible cream, so cannot be carried. Your girl is cc, meaning no cream gene. Cc would be single cream, so buckskin, palomino and smokey black. CC is double cream, which means perlino, cremello or smokey cream.

Just wanted to say that your bay foal does not carry cream. Consider the cream gene like dun and roan: either the foal shows cream (CC or Cc) or it doesn't show cream (cc).

Genes are only carried if they're recessive-based, such as chestnut (ee). Take a black horse that carries chestnut: his genetic code snippet will be aa Ee.

Hopefully I didn't confuse you, but it's just a quick explanation in a nutshell. As for bays in Vanners, it's rather rare, though Glory's Sounding has parented the good majority of them. She does absolutely gorgeous though, I hope you find an awesome offer for her. =)

No longer has zombie eyeballs. May still have a craving for brains, as there's no intelligence or sanity left in hers. XD

Thanks for the help :) I'll probably trade my bay grade then, was hoping for the cream gene. That makes loads of sense Keilin, i'm getting it much more now, lol

Right so i can keep two foals so an probably keeping my silver dapple bay vanner and one other from someone else if i can get one.

(I have foals for trade and wouldn't mind Gliders in return <3)

Yes, i was thinking about offering on one of your boys :) Seeing what other offers i get first though, i can only claim two.

I am keeping the silver dapple bay girl, and possibly the grey boy if i don't get another one. The others are up for free!
