Anyone else going to see "the owl movie" (as I call it because I can't pronounce Ga'Hoole  XD ) today?

I'm going after work, whee! I think I can even make the last matinee showing if I beat it out of here exactly at 4:15. :3

Well that was a great movie! ^_^

I have a personal big beef with 3D. I didn't want to see it in 3D because those annoying glasses don't fit on my head, watching it for an hour and a half gives me a big headache, the stuff that pops up in the foreground of the movie is usually all out of focus for a second so when there's a big fight scene it's hard to follow what's going on, the ticket is more than double the price of a matinee normal movie, etc. etc. It's just totally annoying.

However I ended up going to a different theater that was closer to my work and didn't want to wait the two and a half hours for the non-3D movie that was starting later, so I shelled out the $13 and saw it in 3D. It wasn't that bad! I didn't have as much of a headache as I usually do, and thankfully the movie is full of "slow mo" shots so I didn't have trouble following the big action scenes. Also I think it was a good adaption from the books, in that even though I haven't read them I understood clearly what was going on, and only wondered about 1 or 2 things that weren't explained fully that are probably examined in detail in the books.

I'll only say that people who are big fans of the books might be annoyed that they changed some integral plot pieces and characters (which I only know about because i read the book summaries on wiki lol). So be prepared for that. Try to enjoy the movie as a separate entity from the books. Like.. a parallel universe or something lol.

For others who have seen it, please don't talk about spoilers here until it's been a week or so. Gives people a chance to see it. Then I'll put a spoiler warning in the subject and we can gush about stuff together. XD
