So after decideing to get a cat, i had to decide on which cat at the current rescues.

I emailed most of the rescue/shelters to find out if there were any cats that they were having a hard time placing. Though most of them said they were having an okay time with cats there were two that wrote back that infact they did have a hard time with the following kitties

First comes denny, hes hard to place because of his color. Black cats flood shelters and rarely find homes because they lack 'luster'. Seeing as im looking for personality i could really careless about coat color.

Denny is good with kids and a generally sweet boy.

Then theres abby, and she really pulls at my heart. Shes an all white girl, whom is totally deaf. Its unknown how she'd do with children.

Heres where it gets hard,

Denny is a black boy, totally healthy BUT he lives in a shelter.
Abby is a neato color, a little disabled BUT she lives with a foster mom.

Heres what im getting at, even though she is disables abby is not in bad health. Which tells me shes well cared for by her foster mommy and she has a home there as long as it takes to place her. I know theres pleny of people out there with hearts who would love to give this girl a home. On the other hand dennys black and in good health so theres nothing to make this poor soul stand out. Hes also stuck in shelter..

So what would you do?

Gosh, at the adoption center I volunteer at there's kitties like this. o__o If I were you, I'd go with Denny, simply because he's healthy. Kids at first might not know how to deal with a cat with a disability, and I wouldn't want to take the chance that they'd annoy her so much she'd attack. Plus it's unknown how she'd do with kids, so safer to go with Denny as well. Disabled cats require more care as well, no matter what the diability, and you might need that time to care for your kids. ^^

Real answer:  Meet them both and go for the kitty you think you'll enjoy the most.

Answer based only on the info you gave:  Denny.

Black cats are hard to place, I know this.  I find black to be personable, loving and sweet.  I enjoy my cat Behl who is a DLH Black cat.

I would think if the deaf kitty has a foster home it may end up being permanent at some point, but I too would suggest meet them both.

Ive met denny, thats how i know hes good with kids. Hes a sweetie, a very big lover!

I really would love to go meet abby but her foster mom makes it very hard to do that because on the days i can she cant. Also by talking to the owner of the foster system she pretty much thinks that when i meet the cat that i have to take it. I dont want to be forced into something, though im sure abby is a sweetie.

I guess ill just bite the bit and wait a couple of weeks to meet abby, im afraid though (even though not likely) that denny will be adopted out. Hes so perfect for us, he loves my husband, which is rare.

It seems to me then that foster Mommy wants to keep Abby herself.

If Denny is a cat you woudl feel bad to pass up or go back to adopt only to find he found a home I think the descision is made.  Maybe sleep on it.

I think I agree with PM on this one. :) From the way you're talking about him, it seems like Denny's already wormed his way into your heart, and he really sounds like he's pretty much perfect for your situation.

All the same, I know how tricky your situation is. Picking a pet is pretty much never easy. @_@ all of mine have just kinda... marched into my life, put their butt down, and refused to leave.

From the information you're giving - I'd say Denny too. If he fits perfectly into your home and already likes both you and your husband +++ are good with kids, then I honestly don't see the problem xD

Abby sounds like she'll be safe with her foster mom - she's protected and got a home for as long as needed :)

++ I find male cats to be more 'relaxed' and easier to get to :D Females are more temperamental. At least that's my personal opinion.

Oh gosh this just this morning a sweet little golden retriver some how managed its way into my grandmas yard. Im assuming hes been dumped because the poor guys nothing but skin and bones. Though if he was dumped the owner was mighty stupid as hes got a pretty nice looking collar.

Im going to call the animal shelter where denny is to see if they will come pick him up. He cant stay here as our reisdent beagle mutt is a little guy and will fight with him.

GOsh i hope they come get him, id love to have him myself, im rather she hes full blooded but its hard to tell in the condtion he is in..
