Need Stable tag suggestions please! Prize raffled off at the end.

OK, I have my handsome Mustang boy here who needs a beautiful mate.. or two lol  He is currently living in a stable with nothing but light horses, and is feeling quite the odd man out.

Now I have a gold Stable tag (2 now, got another one today from the point shop).  Problem is, I dunno what to get with them.  Yes, I will be using them, no, I don't want to trade them sorry.

I am looking for some ideas on what to get with them, that would make a good mate (mates?) for my boy.

Now what I am looking for for him, is of course something pretty.  But also, something genetically compatible.  Something that will make pretty babies when bred to him, and maybe something that will give me a somewhat diverse range of possible outcomes when they breed.

Picture ref's are good, but if you know your genetics and want to post just a description of a coat color/pattern etc, then by all means please do.  Just so long as it is easy enough for Rav to use when I turn my tag in, if I chose it.

Also, if you know genetics, feel free to advise on what certain things bred to my boy may possibly produce.

What you can maybe get for helping..

When I finally decide what to use to turn my tags in with, I will run a raffle, and anyone who posted with a suggestion/advise etc will be entered to win a semi custom wobble crystal.  If you just post to say hi or such, it doesn't count though!

I think that your boy is brown based (or bay, but he does not look as bay to me)

In either case, I would get him a girlfriend that is either golden buckskin (if brown) or sooty buckskin (if bay) That will give you a chance at bay, brown, and black bases.
The buckskin will let you have options of getting a single cream dilution (so you can get the brown/bay/black or you can get buckskin/smoky black)

Then I would add roan and dun to the female which will give a lot more variety especially if she only carries them. (You would then have a chance at brown roan, bay roan, blue roan, mouse dun, yellow dun, and grullo in foals)

I would also give her appaloosa (whichever variety is your favorite), tobiano, and overo (whichever variety is your favorite) Then you have a chance at showing all those in future foals as well as finding out your boy's genes.

I would also get silver dapples. It isn't as common, so the foals would just be more unique, but you have at least 50% chance of passing on silver dapples with your boy and a non dapple girl.

I hope all that made sense. I was just choosing things that will give you the most variety in the foals.

I would say your boy is a silver dapple bay, so I personally would get one black-based and one chestnut-based mare to help with figuring out what else he carries.


It's hard to go wrong with a black frame overo.


Of course, strawberry roan appaloosa is quite lovely too.

Or for something a little more exotic, just add cream or dun.

I'm certainly no expert on genetics or anything of the sort. But, I do believe a strawberry roan frame overo leopard appy (no idea on how you'd order the words xD) would be pretty, and possibly throw some super gorgeous foals.

Genetics is on sera's list of things to learn soonish (Must learn PHP first!!!), but i wonder if a silver dapple black tobiano would give you good options?  Like Silv's Andan.  Paint-wise, a bay splash overo might be really pretty. . . ?  ^^;  hehee

But I went on google to look up some examples, and I about died laughing. One of the image results was a stable horse XD Hahaha.

Yea, I did mean it for one horse. It woud be:
Golden buckskin roan dun splash tobiano blanket with silver dapples
or
Sooty buckskin roan dun splash tobiano blanket with silver dapples

And you could substitute which ever overo and appaloosa you like best also I would ask Ravv what your boy's coat is before ordering.

So I have an example of most of that on one of my bred foals:

hmmm well, I do have two gold tags, I could get both of what you listed.  but make one overo instead of tabiano..

For my boy.. he was got in an event.  He isn't a "custom" per se, bore sort of a semi custom.  It was the event where you had to enter a pretend horse into a pretend event, by posting somethign like..

Name here the Coat here Breed here enters the ring.

Or something..

And I posted Silver Dapple where the coat went.  So yea lol but.. I am realising now, rav could have done other things WITH the silver dapple, and I;d be clueless no matter how much I looked.  i just wouldn;t recognize them if they bit me lol  I just have him recorded as a silver dapple..

Anyway!  If I get both of your suggestions, which one should I make overo do you reckon?

I would only get one of them since they will look pretty much the same. So I would just as Rav what his coat is, since silver dapples has to be on top of another coat, its just a modification for it.

Then I would get the opposite of whichever his coat is. I think as a second mare you should do something chestnut based or a black with him.

and

Depending on the boy's actual coloring I might change golden buckskin to black.

Good choices.  White is always such a guessing game as to what it will produce.  (I'd still give a good deal to know what Hehewuti has under her white coat that produced a sooty buckskin silver dapple roan from a breeding to a bay roan...)
