Introduction:

Ok, I have a goal of working out the full gene sets of all my horses.  To that end, I am putting my horses up for free Breeds/RBs provided you are putting them with a partner that will likely give me genetic info.  I'm putting below my thoughts on good pairings for genetic info, but feel free to ask if you have another pairing in mind.  Available pairings will change as I get genetic info.

I also have a few horses that I am making available for breedings in return for a large fee.  You'll find those in their own post.

If I bred Copper with Jaci, my Blue Dun Snowflake Appaloosa, would they likely make a Blanket Appaloosa baby? That's about the only thing I somewhat figured out... I don't know what color they'd make. If you know of anything else they might produce, please let me know.

What I'm having trouble with are the percentages/chances.. but with your list there it seems to make a little more sense.

Now that I look at it, if Jaci has DD (dun) and Copper has dd, wouldn't it be DD x dd = 100% Dd (heterozygous duns)?

And that would be your permission to use him, yes?

Yeah, if Jaci is DD then baby will be 100% chance Dd (Dun).  If Jaci is Dd then 50% chance of dd baby (non-Dun) and 50% chance Dd (Dun).  And yes, you can use Copper.

I'll be happy to let you use Nanaea as soon as it's been 1 month from her last breeding, on the 27th.  And yeah, that's a very good guess.  We don't know if your boy is heterozygous or homozygous for any of his patterns (dun, roan and appy), so simply picking two of them is good.  You know there's at least a 50% chance on each of them, and possibly a 100% chance.

Let's see, has Milky Way had any foals yet?  If not, then we can't really know anything about his A, E or C loci.  He'd be ?? ?? ?? rr dd G? ww ll ?? tt oo ?? ?? zz bb

Um, let's see, him with Silver Streamer would have a very high chance of a grey baby (at least 75% chance).  Also a good chance of paint, either tobiano or overo, or both.  If the baby wasn't grey, no idea what it would be, they're both greys so who knows what they're hiding.  If you like greys and paints, Silver Streamer would be a good choice.

If you want a better chance at a non-grey and like dun and/or silver dapple instead of paint, then Serrena would be the better choice.

Serrana has a couple days still before she's available, Silver Streamer is available immediately.

I was thinking I would like to breed my Ginger with either Rocky Road or Mushroom.  What do you think?  Or do you think she would be better paired with someone else. *Goddesss is clueless on horse genetics =)*


She has never been breed, first gen.  I got her from Ravv asking for a Chestnut image. =)

Goddesss - either would be a good pairing for finding out genetics.  With either pairing there's no telling for sure what base coats are possible - probably Bay is most likely, but Black and Chestnut are in the running too.  Mushroom gives you the chance of roan, whereas Rocky Road gives the possibilities of Appy, Dun and/or Silver Dapple.  Guess-wise for the Rocky Road pairing I'd probably say Bay Dun Appaloosa, and for Mushroom I'd guess Bay Roan.  You're welcome to use either stud.
