Yay! Thank you so much for this very fun event, Garney! ^_____^

I'll even give you some of my easter chocolate for that! *gives chocolate*

Gidgets

Not quite done, if you can sneak some more in by tonight, feel free! But no doubt most of our convention goers will be packing up their gidgets and tents and heading home by sunset.

Speaking of sunset, since you're busy LD I just went and redid yours myself.

o.o you shaded them all?

*squishes* Thank you Garney, I loves my cockatiel <3

Garney

Well I was hoping to have them all shaded yesterday so I could start on the USD stuff today, but noooo my daughter had to go scarpering off so I spent most of yesterday looking for her *siiiigh*

How old is your daughter anyways, Garney? Hopefully she won't do it again. :)

I think all of us with USD stuff can wait an extra day anyways, as excited as I am to see my first order, I can manage. xD

HAving worked for days and days for our greatest fancy breeding achievement, I couldn't help but show him off before the event is totally closed.

He was very difficult to achieve, and when approaching the project initially, I wasn't even sure how to begin.  So I started with this little gidget but I couldn't decide who to match him with. What could possibly give me the green I needed as well as the brown or the iconic eyes?

I looked through other gidgets and it took quite some planning. I decided to try a Christmas 3 show gidget since it had some green along the back half of the body. The offspring came out more purple than the blue I wanted so next I bred in which brought back most of the blue except around the head and left a nice green in the back as well as adding some spotting.  The rest happened in a blur of breeding using a multitude of gidgets to breed out show traits and to get the result we wanted including.

for added coloration and the brightness of the spots.

to concentrate the spots in the tail area and to add brown to the wings.

for beak coloration and the final touch to the wings.

When re-bred to our original gidget we finally got what we desired.

Many thanks to PonyMama for her help with this project!

Thank you. He was difficult to create. I had a lot of help and advice from PonyMama.  I don't think I explained his breeding very well. It was hard to come up with even a slightly plausible set of genetics.
