is this normal for a tablet? o.0

Random weirdness here. I had a laptop with Windows 7 for a long time, three or four years. I have a Wacom tablet, a gift from a friend, I used with it. I had to hold the tablet right for it to match the movements of the pointer on the screen, of course. The end with the cord coming out of it always pointed to the right, and the end with the little fabric loop that holds my pen always pointed to the left. Otherwise the pointer on the screen would move opposite to my pen movements.

I recently got a Windows 8 laptop and just now plugged the laptop into the usb port and waited for it to install its drivers... and then I picked it up to use it, and it's backwards! When I hold it correctly, the cord is now on the left, and the fabric loop is now on the right! o.0 How weird is this?

Ryuukokoro

Whoa, more weirdness. With the other laptop, when I touched the pen to parts of the tablet, the pen would jump to that part of the screen. (Like if I put the pen in the upper left corner, my pointer on the screen would appear in the upper left corner, regardless of where it was before.)

Now when I pick the pen up and put it down on the tablet in another place, the pointer on the screen doesn't move to that portion of the screen. It stays where it is, unless I'm moving the pen across the tablet, then it draws like normal.

Hmm.... you know, now that I think of it, I should probably go find the installation CD the tablet came with and install all the stuff on that...

well the first bit sounded like it was set to  go the other direction?

But as far as what its doing now with the pointer my old one had that problem and it turned out pen tracking was off?

The first thing is easy. I imagine when you first got your tablet it got set to left-handed, and then when you updated it reset to right-handed. For instance I have mine set to left-handed even though I draw with my right because I need the cord coming out of the right if it's going to reach the computer. Have no clue what's up with the pen tracker, though.

Ditto what skysong said. its probably the settings that need to be changed. In the 'wacom preferences' area. pen tracking MAY be fixable from there as well. not sure.

Ryuukokoro

Aha, I went to the Waccom website and downloaded the latest drivers, and that fixed the pen tracker issue! Yay! ^_^

My orientation is still switched to the default right-handed, but it's not messing up my drawing like the tracking was. And I can't find the preferences to switch it around lol.

It should be somewhere in your start menu

Ryuukokoro

Windows 8 doesn't have a Start menu. XD;; (Microsoft, you are crazy...)

Wildfilly94

Ohh goodness.. Lol. Thats a problem!

Found this..
"The Start screen replaces the Start menu in Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Open Start by swiping in from the right edge of the screen (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer down), and then tapping or clicking Start.

Tip

You can also use the Windows key  on your keyboard to go to Start."

Also there's a search button too. I dunno if it'll help, when you do the right side swiping thing, it's the spyglass. Maybe you can find your thing there?

I have no clue actually if it will help or not. But maybe it can find your tablet thing?
