SHELLS

Each species of Cephaline have their own peculiars about breeding. Being semi-social animals, they often congregate to find mates. Now showing off pretty displays is all well and good, but the real way to get a mate these days is by finding and giving shells to a Cephaline you fancy, even females will take the initiative and court males this way (indeed they may have learned a thing or two from Adelie penguins), but each species has a preference of shells that they like.
******Note that any shell may be used independently to breed, you don't require the common shell plus other shells...that would be silly!******

What Shells do and Prices

CREAM & BROWN

The most common shell color. It does nothing particuarly special, but the opposite gender is still attracted to it.

BLUE & WHITE

A pretty shell that ensures two eggs are male.
Prices:

WHITE & PINK

A pretty shell that ensures two eggs are female.
Prices:

GREEN & ORANGE

These constrastly colored shells actually attract the same gender, for some odd reason. A parasitic worm lives inside these shells that infest the host parent and help with the breeding. The worm dies after one breeding.

SUNNY DAY

These brightly colored shells ensure identical twins, and possibly triplet offspring.

10k - 10k - 15k - 15k


SUNSET NIGHT

These dark and bright colored shells allow for more color/pattern influences from previous generations (if used on a first generation cephaline, it will function as a common shell)

PASTEL RAINBOW

These many colored shells add more colors and/or patterns to offspring that aren't from the parents or any previous generation.

RED & GOLD

These regally colored shells add one more offspring to the already bred eggs!

IRIDESCENT

These beautiful shells attract not a mate, but an egg! Even if you own no Cephalines, just tossing this into the water will bring forth an egg to be yours! (in effect, this is like a "Random" custom starting at Egg stage, that may be redeemed at any time)

Brood Sizes

Some cephalines are more fertile than others. Here is a list that details the average size of broods.

Breeding Note: Each owner may only keep one egg per owned Cephaline breeding (if you own one of the parents, you keep one, if you own both parents, you keep two). All other eggs must be given away or traded away. You may trade them away for other eggs, adoptables, Adoptable items, PI/Secundi Items, PG/SG, and other-site currency that allows trading with other websites (ie. Wajas yes, GaiaOnline no). They may NOT be traded for real currency or other site money/items that do not allow other-site trading. Unkept eggs that haven't been given/traded away will not grow until they are with a new owner.

Can we throw extra eggs back to you for like a free raffle?
Of course you can

What about love pairs do they have anything special?
They can breed without an item, just a normal brood though
They can also be bred out of season, when I have time and with a small bribe.

Can CYO Octopuss breed?
Of course, why have a pretty that can't be bred

How many times can each Octopuss breed each season?
as for season? Right now not sure if I want to do breeding seasons OR open breeding
Once  for females please, it is a hard process. Twice for males, unless it is a same gender breeding, then the one who is playing mom can only be bred once.  All Love Pairs, once.

How can I be added to the Mailing List?
Join PI and go join in events there XD
(How can we tell PM just stole the Q&A from PI)

How long does it take eggies to grow?
Hopefully a 2-3 days, but this depends on two things, if they have a confirmed owner, OR if I am super busy or not

For a love pair, may we use shells to add to the breeding? Or is it just a basic breeding, no items?
You may of course add a shell to the love pair breeding, that is always optional.
