Possible bug with Mass Sign up of competitions

Last week when I signed my pets up in the comps, I got weird results.  The various comp types signed me up to differing amounts of competitions.  My son was with me at the time, and suggested it was probably because when I started entering cops, it was a few minutes before the hour (when comps run) and when I finished, it was a few minutes after the hour.. I didn't "quite" follow his logic on why that would matter (since, to my understanding once one comp runs another replaces it, thus there is always the same amount of unrun comps to enter..) I think..

But anyway, I left it go.

Now this week, when I went to enter, I made sure to wait till a couple minutes past the hour (after the comps should have run) just in case his theory was right.  But once again, I got entered into a different amount of comps for each type.

The line after you use the en mass sign up that tells you how many possible competitions your selected pets have entered, is the number I am talking about.  here is this weeks results when mass signing up..

Wit: 161 comps
Will: 162 Comps
Might: 163 Comps
Speed: 163 Comps
Fate: 163 Comps
Presence: 165 Comps
Totality: 7 Comps

The totality, I know is low for a reason, but I put it there anyway, just to be thorough..

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the previously reported comp dates acting up, but in case it's something different, I thought I'd mention it.

Just updating for you with this weeks results of entering via en masse sign ups.  (I just finished entering, if you need the time, came straight here..)

Wit: Pets signed up in 163 possible competitions.
Will: Pets signed up in 164 possible competitions.
Might: Pets signed up in 167 possible competitions.
Speed: Pets signed up in 167 possible competitions.
Fate: Pets signed up in 168 possible competitions.
Presence: Pets signed up in 170 possible competitions.
Totality: Pets signed up in 8 possible competitions.

Ok, I'm pretty sure what's going on here.  The problem is the past contests that should have run and didn't.  The mass sign up pulls up any contest of the type that hasn't run yet, and then signs your pets up for the ones they're not signed up for yet.  Sometimes on the hour there's too many people using the site and the script to run the contests gets detrailed by the database being busy before it's able to run all the contests, so some contests for the hour get run and some don't.  This causes uneven numbers of the various contest types.

I may have to instigate some sort of hourly tick to prevent the problem.  I'm trying to figure out other options, but it may come down to that.

Question on the possible tick.  Would it affect forums too (as on PI) or just the game half of the site?

I'm not sure right now.  The forums draw on the database too.  Like I said, I'm trying to figure out other options first.  I think the competitions and past competitions pages have been a heavy draw.  I've reduced the number of comps per page you see, we'll see if that helps out.
