I like the Dragonlance books, believe they're sorta a series, but with different characters in the same world. Not completely sure, though, since I only have a trilogy set from it. But it was really amazing, loved the plot twists :D It's about dragons and knights and mythical creatures and such ^^

Maybe you'd like to check out The Luxe series too? The ending was terrible, but I liked the inbetween stuff. It's about high society when fancy parties and huge dresses were popular. So a bit more on the girly side xD

And Chronicles of Chestomanci is good too, so far only heard of 2 books though. Just follows the adventures of the Chestomanci, a boy/man with 9 lives and the keeper/guardian/president of the magic community

Dark Series and Goddess Summoning are all tied together sort of, but differnt characters.
The tie between Goddess Summoning are the gods/Goddesses
The tie between the Dark Series: Carpathians

Still have not read the Last battle to the Chronicles of Narnia Series, * once the ape made the donkey put on the lion costume to imitate Aslan * I lost interest. My bookmark still resides in the book.

I will write those down to look at them, thank you

Neocridders

I have read a childrens' series that in my opinion is amazing. It's for younger readers, but I don't know if you'd apprichiate it. It's in my opinion close to 'Harry Potter Level' in how deep the plot goes and the number of characters and adventure. I would recommend it. It's called the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. There will be a movie coming out called Legends of the Guardians that is based off the books. It comes out on Sept. 24.
I don't know if you'd be interested, but I'm always recommending it because I loved it and still love it. It's a great read. There are 20ish books, but they are not too long. I'd say that you should go to the library for these. Just too many to own them all XD

I also want to recommend the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.
I don't think it'd be hard to find these books. I found mine at a garage sale, and all four books cost me $2. But I don't know if you'd be so lucky. They are great reads, and I'd recommend reading the Hobbit first. These books are a bit confusing and involve constant paying attention because your mind may wander a bit while reading and you'll miss something. They are great because they are fantasy and full of adventure and creativity. I do think that they are not for everyone because of the fact that they are so involved with paying attention. It's hard for me to read them, but I love them.

The hobbit is a childrens' book, so I'd start with that one to get started in the world of Tolkien. Then go on to thte LOTR series if you still are interested.
And after that, you can get into all of Tolkien's many stories. He's created his own world full of his own creatures and they all have stories and reasons for being there. It's magical how it feels like you're reading a history of a real place. You're reading something that actually could have happened, because he gives you so much detail and background that it's like you're there.
But that's only in the rest of the books. The LOTR and the Hobbit are really normal stories, so I hope I didn't scare you off.

Sunchaser

ive just started reading new series and one of them is called the Xanth novels by Peirs Anthony. If your into lots of odd puns and things taken literal this is a good book series. one i just finished was called a cruel lye or some type of spelling like that.

The other is called Cherub. Its a series based around the british MI5 where Cherubs are those that are children from age 10-18 i believe (cant remeber the maximum age) are taken as agents usually from foster homes and become spies. its rather interesting and i wish i could remeber the author but id have to look at the book thats at my home.

PonyMama

I own all the LotR and Hobbit, just never coudl get into them
they are my list of reading, but I don't actually list them because in all honesty they weren't bought for me by me, they are the hubby's and I forgot about them

I will look at the other stuff suggested though

Goddesss

I like the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.  (Interview with a Vampire is the first one)

I started out reading them because I wanted to see how the first one was like the movie.  I had the second one which started out really slow but was great.  The third one Queen of the Damned is not the same story as the movie that was made after it it is soooo much better.  Anyways there are 11 books in that series.  I am only one the 4th one though.

PonyMama

I have read interview with a vampire, I loved it, and I read it in like grade 7 or 8 (I read lots)
I did not know there were other books to it.  I may have to look into those for sure

Goddesss

Yes the next one is The Vampire Lastat.  It tells of Lastats life before he was a vampire and how he was made.  He dominates books 2-4.  I really love them and was very surprised.  The other books close in alot of the actual vampire gaps from interview as Louis was telling the story and he knew nothing of Vampires.

The 3rd one Queen of the Damned is alot about the vampire history and Anne Rices way they came to be is very interesting.

I am reading the 4th one now.  The glue was coming apart and the kids hid some pages on me (like 50) so I am a little stuck till I find them.

Lectral

I have the Otherworld set, all the currently published ones.  They are good, but definitely Adult.

Mercy Thompson (newest book is Silver Borne, I know I saw it at the store when I picked up the first book) and Alpha and Omega (I have the opposite - Cry Wolf, and looking for Hunting Ground), very good and much "tamer" than Otherworld >.> (I started these just last weekend... and finished them)

Anita Blake is good (vampires and weres), though Adult on par with Otherworld (or higher... especially in the later books).  I started reading them with the comics, but after book 3 or 4, the books get very, very adult >.>

Dragonlance is a very nice series, massive though.  If you stick with the "main" books, it's not too bad.  The base series is by Margeret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and most of these follow the same set of characters, more or less.  There are also many canon books by other authors, many focused on side characters or family members of the originals, and others on different regions or time periods - this is my husband's favorite series, and between the two of us, we have a large percentage of the series, except for a few of the more recent books, and authors that my husband despises >.>

I read lots of other series, but I need to hunt for titles and authors XD

PonyMama

I think I had Anita Blake in my lost pink book to look for.  Baby disappeared it

yeah the Dark series is very adult too, but she definitely has a good story and I love how it continues over so many books so you get to follow some characters you meet and learn a bit more

I may look into the main dragonlance, since I have had them suggested here and on PI twice.  I try find what I can second hand so I can save some funds, and the hubby doesn't kill me too much

deviousnymph

You might want to try Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. It's not a series where everyone in the cast is featured in each book, one of the women tend to be focused on each time. However, throughout the series you see the same characters frequently so you're still aware of what's going on with them even if they aren't really tied into the book's current issue. There are werewolves, witches, demons, angels, and in general Kelley Armstrong has done a lot of awesome world building for this series. There is some romance and some 'adult' situations, but it's never the main plot point of the books.

I'm really bad at pimping out series, but she has a really great website (http://www.kelleyarmstrong.com/) with the series order and book summaries.

Lectral

Ooo, another one I love - by Robin D Owens... not sure of the series title (The Summoning, I think), but there are 5 books:

Guardian of Honor
Sorceress of Faith
Protector of the Flight
Keepers of the Flame
Echoes in the Dark

Fantasy, and mild romance, but very good.  And a completed series, as of Echoes.  So if you can find them all, you won't be waiting around forever for the next book XD

There are definietly some series here i'll need to nab myself xD; Oh, oh! Another series you might want to try:

Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

Currently making my way through it myself. It's a paranormal romance series, so far dealing with vampires, Lykae, Valkyrie and I know that some others come into the later books. It's nine books long (plus a short story, so I guess ten overall) so far. First book is A Hunger Like No Other. Working on the fourth book myself.

Sunchaser

lol to the anita blake series it was after book 5 that she started um doing adult things :-p

its a good series ive read all of them some of them unless you happen to love reading the adult types you have to skip a couple pages. There is one specificly that i maybe red half the book not even cause the rest was smex and yeah >.>

I know I made a thread for it, but I have to plug it here because if you like the Percy Jackson series, Harry Potter, etc, you'll probably like the Hunger Games trilogy!

Basically it's about a nation called Panem that rose up after North America was destroyed, which consists of a rich Capitol and 12 surrounding, poorer districts. After a rebellion happened and was quelled, the Capitol started the Hunger Games, in which a boy and a girl from each district have to participate in a reality TV show that's basically a fight to the death -- winner is the last one standing. So, fantasy, action-y, quite a bit of romance but it's not super gushy.

Furthermore, the third and last book just came out so if you like the series, you don't have to go through a maddening wait for the next part of the plot, haha.

*disappears back into Korea*
somebody stop me, I can't stop buying the cute cheap things that are here

Kahlira

Dark Peril just came out. Haven't had a chance to read it, but since you've read Slayer, you know who the male lead will be. The female is a shocker though. But like I said I've not read it. I love the dark series.

Another series is the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey. There's a lot of books in said series. And ya don't even have to read em in order. (The first one I read was the Silver Griffon, which technically isn't Valdemar, but yeah.)

My son got me started on two new book series.  The first, is the Pendragon series.  By D. J. MacHale.  It's about a boy, who finds out he is a "traveler" and winds up traveling through time and space to try and save different peoples, as well as his own.  There are 7 books out now, with an 8th either out, or coming out soon.

1. The Merchant of Death
2. The Lost city of Faar
3. The Never War
4. The Reality bug
5. Black Water
6. The Rivers of Zadaa
7. The Quillan Games
8. The pilgrims of Rayne  <-- not sure if that one is out yet or not

I'm still reading book #1, but it's very good and I already know I want to read the rest.

The second series is called Replica, by Marilyn Kaye.  Not sure yet how many books there are total.

1. Amy, Number Seven  <-- this is the one I have read so far

In Search of Andy
Pursuing Amy
Another Amy

I've only read the first book so far.  My son borrowed it from his teacher, and I read it before he took it back.  Not sure what order the rest go in, or if there are more then those.  Those are the one my local library has, and I have placed a reserve on them.  The series is about a girl, who seems to be quite perfect, in every way.  It's a story about cloning, so if that is somethign you dislike, then maybe shouldn't read.

Anyway, they are both found in the childrens section of my local library.  The Pendragon series is marked at Reader level 7.

I have to second the recommendation for Pendragon! I believe the whole series is out (I remember reading the ending... either that or I'm crazy) so no waiting around for the next book.
