Wind Runners. Making an appearance.... Names Still Needed! Pls Check!

Welcome everyone to what will hopefully be the first of many Wind Runner events to be held here on Secundi.

So firstly, the lines are by Willow, with the inking and shading by Weretigress. Willow has kindly given me permission to run these here, so I am certainly going to try to and hopefully my colouring etc will improve ^^ Kadana is an angel and helped me with the cert and with that I think all thanks are done.

Wind Runners a are fairly shy and elusive race though can be quite playful once you win their trust. However quite where they came from is a mystery.

Event 1

Where did the Wind Runners come from? What is thier backstory? The more detailed the better, please write a backstory for these guys and the most original and interesting will take home the very first Wind Runner stallion to be given out.

For Event 1

Long ago, at the dawn of time, the earth was a strange and foreign place to the way it is now. It was mainly oceans and scarce, lifeless soil. All the land masses were flat and smooth, there had been no natural disasters to break and ravage the crust. With the wind resistance being zero, no ruts or mountains to block or redirect it, the air picked up to unimaginable speeds. The winds buffetted the earth on and on until it seemed to pick up a rythym. Soon it sounded more like ceaseless pounding upon the ground than like a rushing wind. The air creating the wind itself was solidyfying and becoming more and more dense until it finally began to take on tangible form. There, with his fresh hooves grinding into the earth and leaving dust and rock flying behind him was the first Wind Runner. A stallion of great strength and regality. He became the first of many Wind Runners who continue to run as fast as any wind and shape the earth under their hooves.

Event 1:

A while ago, a race of horse was brought from a distant land to a human populated land. These horses were strange, they had similarities to the old, mystical dragons. The dragon horses would always fly around in their old home, and were friends to the sky. They enjoyed flying so much, there was little need to be on the ground except for sleeping. This dragon horse breed was particularly mischevious, they loved to cause trouble, especially in this new place.

When humans found them and introduced them to this land, though, they teased these humans. Humans took these pranks and tricks as challanges.
The name 'Wind Runner' comes from when the humans and the dragon horses would race. On land they were about equal in speed. A man could run about as fast as any dragon horse. But, oh, they were tricksters. The wind runners would get behind and start to fly to win a race. Flying was their specialty, after all. A wind runner would win any race with the sky. They raced with the wind, and thus are called the Wind Runners

Event 1

   A long time ago in a world parralel to ours there was a fine bred of horses. These horses were diferent from what we know as horses here. They had wings growing out of their shoulders. Not bird wings, but more like the wings you would see in fairy tales of dragons.

   These were intelligent horses, but also playfull. And they liked to compete with each other, just for fun of course. One fine spring like day they decided to have a race. It was a huge race & horses came from miles around to join in the fun.

   There was a thunderstorm coming as was useual when they had their races. They planned them this was as the race would start when the first crack of thunder rang through the air. All the horses stood in their starting positions & listened, waiting for the sound that would set them all to running, hooves pounding the ground as they went.

  They were to start at the edge of the apple orchard, run through go the valley, fly across the large lake, then run through the cannons & on to the top of the high mountains some miles away. Then they were to fly all the way back as fast as they could. The winner was to get the juiciest apple from the large apple tree in the center of the orchard & get to wear the blue ribbon untill the time when another might prove to be faster.

  They waited for some time, it seemed like forever, the storm had never been this late before. Just as they were about to call off the race it came. The sound of the thunder was louder & lasted longer than anyone could ever remember & they all set out hoves flying beneath them pounding into the ground with such force that it could be heard for miles around.

  There was a great black stallion up in the lead as they neared the top of the mountains & they all saw him dive into the air with wings outstreched for the return trip to what seemed like certain victory for him. Then he was gone. No one saw him fly back toward the orchard & they assumed he was going so fast that they just missed it, so they all picked up speed trying to catch up. And one by one they reach the top & dove into the air with their wings outstretched to make the journey back. And one by one they disapeared into the very air they had dove into.

  It is believed that that first crack of thunder was so strong that it blasted a hole into the air that could not be seen as no one can actually see air & that as each horse dove into the air they were actually diving into the unseen hole.

  And what was on the other side of that hole? A place called Secundi. And there to there was a storm, much like the one where the race had begun. So the horses that were in the air never realized they had entered into another world until they landed where the orchard should have been.

  And now they can be seen in the distance sometimes, running on the wind, trying to get ahead of the wind, hoping to find their way home.

Event 1

The very clouds were under attack.  The strange, cat-like creatures simply called themselves 'Eaters', and they had voracious appetites, especially in regards to the fluffy, moisture-filled clouds.  The Eaters spread their large wings and launched their gaunt forms from a barren land up to the full skies.  They feasted upon the clouds, and the clouds were in a state of panic. 

The clouds tried to flee their adversaries, compressing together in fear as they tried to preserve themselves.  Tighter and tighter they tried to make themselves when the Eaters came again.  In terror, the clouds lashed out, lightning striking an Eater even as it launched itself onto yet another cloud. 

Even more terrifyingly, the cloud and the Eater both shrieked in fear as they were enveloped by the strong attack, merging the two into a new and very surprising form.  Tossing his head, the creature that appeared mixed its cat-like heritage with the clouds' penchant for speed and grace.  The cloven-hoof equine still retained its sharp cat-teeth and the wings of its ancestor, but it was certainly its own being and he rolled his eyes at the attackers as he reared up dangerously. 

The other clouds quickly lashed out at the Eaters that still remained, transforming a few more of their brethren into these new and unexpected creatures, but the newly born were swift to defend their weaker parent, and soon the Eaters retreated from their attack. 

The clouds knew not what to do with their new 'children', but they could not abandon their offspring.  They welcomed the Wind Runners into their fold, an action greatly appreciated by the shy Wind Runners who had no desire to seek out the strange new world they discovered themselves in.  The two have lived in harmony ever since, and, with a bolster in the Wind Runners' ranks—for the Eaters have no fully stopped their attacks upon the clouds—they have determined that now might be the time to seek allies beyond themselves.
