Mermaid Oil Painting

This is in the works to be a present for my mom. I'm pretty sure it's more pin-up girlish than she would expect lol but unfortunately it's the only way I can draw for some reason >.> I was planning on doing a two-tailed mermaid that she likes but I didn't like it in sketches so I settled on this. Poor mom, she thinks she's getting a still life x3 Anyway, I did a base paint in some red brown that I do not remember the name of atm. I'm in the bad habit of watering down my oils with paint thinner but the base paint will force me to cover it a bit more.






It's a simple painting because I'm not that great at oils just yet so I'm keeping it easy to reduce the risk of mistakes. Not nearly finished yet but hopefully I'll complete it soon ^^ Next I need to add the green to the kelp and then do another layer on everything I believe.
