The Government fails again

So they decided last night that they were for sure closing my daughter's school and she is to be attending a school big enough to be a high school next year.  They also don't allow parents in the school, they actually lock them out until the afterschool bell rings.  Which if my kid is in the school shoudl that not be completely illegal?

it is also over an hour walk and they refuse to bus her becasue it is in the new catchment area.  What???  Ok so you want me to wake two kids up at 5:30am to get them ready for school, leave here at about 7am to get there by 8ish, then walk all the way home, then have to do that again to go get her in the afternoon?  And if it is -20 I am to stand outside with an infant.  Well that seems like it is crap.  So nope not going to happen, they close her school they can place her where I see fit, not where they see fit.

I am so freaking mad right now, I would phone and vent to my mom but my stupid hubby left the phone off the hook when I told him to charge it so it is dead, ahhh I wanna explode.  Stupid government.  Heck just tear down all the schools and build malls, your messing with their education already may as well give them more reasons to be delinquents.

Sounds similar to my school area. It is one of the better public schools out there, I must guess.
But, the school system this week decided they were going to make cuts in what they consider not important. So, Football is still there. The whole music department is in ruin though.
It is sad. Music is one of those things that most people don't realize really is important.
Most of those kids excel in other activities and subjects and go to a good college and have a great life.
But no. They decided to ruin the whole music and art program (the field I hope to go in, either music or art) and of course, they leave our terrible football team.

Our band is known far and wide for excellence. Our football team is known by few and is considered an embarrassment.

It just makes me want to cry that the man in charge is so unaware of what he is doing, even when there are atleast a couple hundred people yelling at him for it.

But your situation seems a lot worse.
That is so terrible that they want you to walk to her school!
And they can't let you be in the school? Umm, sounds to me like they might be doing something they don't want the parents to know about honestly

She may end up goign to it anywasy becasue many of the teachers at this school that she is goign to now may go the new one to be next to their kids so that woudl help and they woudl get the no parents thing changed, cause they like helpers, but until that happens I will look at my other options

A friend is considering losing hours at work to get her kid and mine to and from school, so that is nice but how stupid that they can't just bus them

Yeah well music and art have always seemed to take a backseat to football in American schools or so I have heard, they need to take a look at that and realize that at least music and art help people use their brains, football wacks it around

My district lost bussing a few years ago for at least half the year. It was a terrible thing. I don't understand why it took them that half a year to realize how bad an idea it was. You'd think they could have considered some better solution.

Hmmm. Well, I hope that they don't end up cutting the buses for you.

Well luckily my daughter's teacher told me that I may be able to convince them to swing by and pick up some kinds including my own using the bus, since they have to go to the reservation to pick up their kids anyways, this just sucks.  My hubby and I will be talkign about this until we have to make a descision, which will be in a couple weeks.
